[Bug 1247948] [NEW] setting items should have a fix order
Public bug reported: The current system settings icon order is alphabetical. Problem 1: Not the most important items are displayed at first in every row. For example in the 'Hardware' category (English version), 'Bluetooth' is the first item, but it should be IMHO 'Diesplays'. Problem 2: Sorting the icons alphabetical results in having the icons on different places depending on the language the system currently uses -> pretty bad when supporting other people through the phone... It would be much better to give the icons a fixed position. This would improve the system settings user experience, because the important buttons would be faster accessible. [Bug 1244696] [NEW] status bar flickers when changing image
Public bug reported: What you expected to happen: The image viewer should not distract the user when watching images. This should also apply to switching between different images. What happened instead: The described effect applies especial to images of the same size, because the shape of the image doesn't change, the only moving part is the EOG interface. When switching between images the status bar flickers. The reason is that it displays for some milliseconds the string 'Opening image "file:///home'. Suggested solution: Display the 'Opening image' string only if the next image hasn't been loaded after a certain amount of time (1 second). [Bug 946544] Re: write metadata should be default
This non-destructive philosophy is a noble approach and how it should be. But as long as it is not reality I would suggest to go with a more “real world approach” for some settings. I don't know what its meant with 'other metadata's in the preference option, but for me tags are something that should be written to the file immediately – maybe separate the metadata option into two entries 'write tags' and 'write titles and other metadata to photo files'. Check the 'write tags' by default (tags do no harm anyone – as far as I know) and leave the other entry unchecked as it is right now. As devs you have kind of a responsibility for the more unknowing users out there, they don't know about all the details, they just want it to work. For the tag example, I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has lost many photo-tagging-hours expecting a different behavior of Shotwell. I don't blame you for your non-destructive approach, I realy like what you guys (and girls?) do, but I think that the tag setting needs to be changed (for Ubuntu). [Bug 946544] [NEW] write metadata should be default
Public bug reported: 'Write tags, titles and other metadata to photo files' setting should be default in Shotwell. Some times ago I tagged all my holiday pictures (it took me hours to do so) and after an Ubuntu reinstall I was pretty shocked not to see all my images tagged after copying my files back from my backup drive. I guess I'm not the only person that had to make this experience. Precise Pangolin is about every little detail and this is something that could (and I'm sure dose) bug a lot of people. So please make write metadata default as long as there is not a good reason not to do so. I really love Shotwell, for me it is a nearly perfect image managing tool. Keep up the good work! [Bug 946468] [NEW] settings > background image > scales not as expected
Public bug reported: When setting a smaller image as terminal background the images gets displayed multiple times to fill the terminal background. This is not what I expect when adding an image as background. When adding an image as background the image should be resized to fit exactly once the screen. Changing the size of the terminal window should resize the terminal background image too. Both approaches have there ups and downs (the current and the suggested) - adding some more options to the preferences dialog → same as the system settings appearance options for images would be nice: [title, zoom, center, scale...] + background color.
