[Bug 877339] [NEW] Totem crashes instantly on start, freezes the whole system

2011-10-18 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
Public bug reported:

When trying to launch totem or try to play a video with it, totem
crashes the system completly. There are no other options than a hard
reset (even magic sysrq isn't working). I was not able to get any
further information. When starting totem via terminal, there are no
massages before the crash occours. Totem shows up half blended (seems to
crash while fading in the window).

I'm not using Unity, instead I'm on Gnome-Shell. With Unity from a live-
usb, this does not happen. I've tested totem 3.2 from Ricotz Testing
PPA, the error does not occure with that version.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10
Package: totem 3.0.1-0ubuntu5

[Bug 863038] Re: If turnoff the screen setting set to 'never' screen turns off instantly

2011-10-03 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
That's not the case on my System. When I set to never, the Screen stays
bright, but the buttom panel (I'm using gnome shell) comes up every time
I move the mouse (or type). This goes away if I revert the setting to
anything but never.

[Bug 739821] [NEW] Brasero is build with --disable-cdrtools

2011-03-21 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

It seems as if Natty's Brasero-package was build with --disable-
cdrtools. This makes the use of the original cdrtools impossible and
prevents me from using them for a clean and working burning
functionality.

Brasero should be built without disabling this, so users can choose what
they prefer.

[Bug 172416] Re: eog determines image type from filename

2011-03-01 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
Still the same on Natty. When I remember this correctly, the behaviour
was another one some versions ago. It would be way better if eog would
determite the file type not by the fileextension.

This is a really nasty bug, because there are often images on the web
that don't have the correct extension. A user who don't knows about this
would possibly delete such files because he thinks the file is
corrupted.

Test this with this file:

[Bug 722281] Re: Svg Support is broken

2011-02-22 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
I'm not sure what the reason is, but after todays updates it has been
gone.

Updates:

gir1.2-gdkpixbuf-2.0 (2.23.0-1ubuntu1) to 2.23.0-1ubuntu3
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 (2.23.0-1ubuntu1) to 2.23.0-1ubuntu3

But I'm not sure, if the Updates are the reason. After updating the
System, I did the following:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall gdk-pixbuf2.0-0
cd /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders
export GDK_PIXBUF_MODULE_FILE=loaders.cache
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache

I did this because I got a lot of error messages about a non-existing
cachefile in /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders

Has this Issue been gone for anyone who only applied the updates without
making the steps above?

Yes, I'm sorry for that. It tooked awhile for me to find out the main
reason for that. The only thing I'm not sure about is the question which
package is causing this.

Installation is not an upgrade from 10.10, I've installed this version
freshly two days ago from an actual Daily-Build Image.

[Bug 722281] [NEW] [Natty] Svg Support is broken

2011-02-20 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
Public bug reported:

It seems as if the support for svg-files is broken on Natty. SVG-Files
aren't shown as preview, aren't vieable with eog and aren't used as
icons. You can see this (as example) when you install synapse. Icons
that would be shown in highres normally are very blurry. Also some icons
are not shown in the main menu, instead a placeholder is used.

This would maybe also explain the glib.GError: Unrecognized image file
in Bug #722057.

2011-02-19 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
Public bug reported:

It is no longer possible to deactivate Compiz via gnome-appearence-
proberties. Simple-ccsm is useless, too. I'm using a classic gnome-

This should be easily possible, even with Unity. It isn't a magic trick

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

Gnome-System-Monitor is not closable. When I try to close the Window,
nothing happens. It does not hang up or something, is still usable.

to have some Input 'bout this.

[Bug 599007] [NEW] Mousepointer don't changes with Compiz enabled

2010-06-27 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

This is on Maverick Meerkat.

With Compiz activated, changing the Mousepointer is working for GTK, but
the new Pointer is not shown on Window-Decorations.

Move the Pointer to the Window-frame (resizing/moving)

The Pointer is still white (DMZ-White Theme) here and does not change
like expected.

[Bug 507731] Re: cover art search fails

2010-06-21 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
Afaik for the discog Service no account was needed. It's (in my personal
opinion) not very good to force people to create an account somewhere to
use this. I'm sure there are other ways that could be used, a.e. the
U1Music Store, Amazon, Google Images ore something else.

2010-06-21 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
Sebastien, of course you are right with that point of view. Google
Images or U1MS could be an alternative that maybe is worth checking it
out. But I also have to ask how players like Amarok or Banshee are
handling this. There it works.

[Bug 514782] Re: Brasero fails to recognize erased DVD-RW media

2010-06-20 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
This is still a problem in Maverick on my System. When erasing a DVD-RW,
Brasero says quickly that erasing has finished, but it takes a very long
time 'til it really has. After that, the media isn't detected any more
and don't shows on the Desktop neither I can use it to burn data on it.
Funny: NeroLinux is working here.

Brasero says:

`BRASERO_IS_DRIVE (drive)' failed

2010-06-19 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
This is marked as Not a Bug upstream. At least, it still isn't working
at all what is, in my opinion, a great loss of functionality. I mean:
whe live in 2010 and this is a Default-Feature in most serious
musicplayers. I tried to fake the user agent, but with no good effect.

Would it be possible to use other Services as discog?

[Bug 507263] Re: Light 1px border around desktop

2010-04-12 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
I first thought it was because of my modified radiance.osliner theme.
But I've tested it with ambiance and other Themes and it occours on all
themes I use. Also, opening Applications/Places/System on the top
panel doesn't work if I'm on the top line.

I've reinstalled the whole system to be shure that no modifications are
the reason for this, but I happens anyway.

Nautilus -q doesn't helps.

[Bug 507263] Re: Light 1px border around desktop

2010-04-11 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
This Bug is only fixed partially. The white Line is gone, but the
behaviour of the borders is still the same. Rightclick still doesn't
works on it and it is not possible to change opened Programs when the
Pointer is on the outer top or buttom Border.

The white line has been hidden, but this is only an optical workaround.
The problem obviously still exists.
