[Bug 86487] Re: Restore evolution data with backup
I've added information on the backup procedure. Could someone confirm there is a problem? How to successfully restore Evolution ff there is no problem? ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: Rejected = Needs Info -- Restore evolution data with backup https://launchpad.net/bugs/86487 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 86487] Re: Restore evolution data with backup
No problem Sebastien! In case someone runs into this problem. The above described procedure didn't work. You should use a backup script found here: http://ubuntu.wordpress.com/2005/12/03/how-to-backup-evolution/ -- Restore evolution data with backup https://launchpad.net/bugs/86487 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 86487] Re: Restore evolution data with backup
I'll try the graphical import function and report back. Anyway, I've followed these steps to backup Evolution as usual: Step 1: Shutdown evolution and gconftool-2: $ gconftool-2 --shutdown $ evolution –force-shutdown Step 2: Create an archive with the data and configuration files: Note: To completely save the Evolution data and configuration, you need to save the following directories/files: 1. ~/.evolution/ 2. ~/.gconf/apps/evolution/ 3. ~/.gnome2_private/Evolution The following command will take care of these $ cd $ tar -cvzf evolution-backup.tar.gz .evolution .gconf/apps/evolution .gnome2_private/Evolution Now the file evolution-backup.tar.gz is the backup you want. Step 3: You can move the data over to another Ubuntu computer if you like, and just un-tar the archive while in your /home/username/ directory to restore it. -- Restore evolution data with backup https://launchpad.net/bugs/86487 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 86487] Restore evolution data with backup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I've followed an article posted in the Ubuntu Wiki to backup Evolution data, using the backup afterwards to restore Evolution. This worked fine for previous Evolution versions, but restoring data from an older Evolution version to Evolution 2.9.91 (Feista Fawn) doesn't succeed. Any ideas on how to import data from an older Evolution version to the Feisty Fawn supplied version?
