[Bug 1540110] Re: gnome-disk-utility (shown as "Disks") shows SMART option grayed for USB connect disks despite being available.
Maybe it is due to the fact (https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki /Supported_USB-Devices) that USB connected disks usually need a '-d' option to enable S.M.A.R.T. support. In fact, for the same disk, trying first: $ sudo smartctl -d scsi -H -i -A -l error -l selftest '/dev/sdb' gives "SMART support is: Unavailable - device lacks SMART capability.", whereas: $ sudo smartctl -d scsi -d sat -H -i -A -l error -l selftest '/dev/sdb' gives "SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability.//SMART support is: Enabled", and the full output expected. And also in GSmartControl I have to add the "-d sat" option to Preferences/Drives to enable S.M.A.R.T. support and view attributes. The difficulty to include this in gnome-disk-utility is that each disk needs a different "-d" option... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1540110 Title: gnome-disk-utility (shown as "Disks") shows SMART option grayed for USB connect disks despite being available. Hi, Thank you so much, the solution posted really fixed the problem. But, you know, this bug is some kind of heritage from Gutsy because before you couldn't choice 12 or 24 format directly but doing something like you did here. I'm talking about the Spanish (Latin) languages. Only certain languages had the 12 or 24 format available. It's great to have this fixed because choosing the date's format is more a personal taste than a Region setting. The only thing left is that developers fix this all the way down in ALL the languages; from what you showed me here, looks like a piece of cake to do ;-) ;-) Best Regards. [Bug 8629] Re: Evolution setup wizard does not fit in 800x600
I'm using a full patched Ubuntu 8.04 Beta in spanish. As you can see in the attachment, Evolution cannot fix on 1024x768. The worst part is the windows edges that show you the modified mouse pointer for resizing but you can't change the size of the window (it's fixed). This bug is pretty old, I was expecting to see it fixed in Hardy. Best Regards.
