[Bug 252174] Re: gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()

2008-09-07 Thread Warwick Lill
This dump was taken on Acer Aspire One A110L netbook. Intrepid Ibex was
installed a week ago, overwriting the original Linpus installation, and
then updated daily until 4 Sep. The machine hasn't been used since that
day. Crash occurred after automatic login following system boot.
Previous reporters seem to have supplied required information, so I
haven't gathered any further data.

[Bug 103633] [apport] gpilot-applet crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-04-06 Thread Warwick Lill
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-pilot

Looks like a repeat of bug #103140.

I installed Feisty yesterday and converted my Evolution data from Dapper
version of Evo. Today I have been trying to set-up a Palm IIIc to hot-
sync with Evolution. The documentation for this is poor but I got there
in the end. I can get all of the common things, except Todo lists to
synchronize. When gnome pilot gets to the syncing of Todo things stop
and the Palm complains that its connection has dropped, meanwhile the
Gnome Pilotsync continues on happily trying to sync Todo items. The
only way to stop it is to reboot or log out. When I log out the Gnome
Pilotsync generated the crash.

Re: [Bug 87717] Re: [apport] apport-gtk crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_icon_set_render_icon()

2007-03-01 Thread Warwick Lill
Sebastian,

I will be very happy to try to get a valgrind log for you.

My limited understanding of the problem is that I have possibly uncovered a
bug in the apport system which is used to capture information on program
crashes, parcel up that information and pass it to the launchpad bug
management system. On the other hand it may be that my system has some sort
of corruption, memory error or disk overwrite, which means that the apparent
problem can't be solved by the programmer.

You would like me to download and install a new version of the library
'program' libgtk2.0-0 which includes debugging symbols, as well as the
valgrind package. Then remove any old valgrind logs.

I should then enter the command shown at point 3 of the wiki article with
/usr/bin/python as the program and /usr/share/apport/apport-gtk as the
arguments.

Next step is to try to reproduce the crash. If I succeed I package up the
log files and attach the complete valgrind report to the existing bug
report.

Is this correct, or have I gone down the wrong track?

I am still not sure exactly what I did to cause the crash in the first
place, although I can probably repeat a crash if I am given a clue on which
program may have initiated it. Is there enough information in the material
supplied to get me started?

I will not update my system until we resolve the issue or dismiss it as a
furphy. I have a Dapper system that I use for day to day use so it is no
great inconvenience.

Regards

Warwick Lill

Thanks for your bug report. The crash might be a corruption, could you
try to get a valgrind log for it with libgtk2.0-0-dbg installed? (you
can follow the instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind for
 that)

[Bug 87717] [apport] apport-gtk crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_icon_set_render_icon()

2007-02-26 Thread Warwick Lill
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

It isn't clear to me whether this is bug #86370.

History is:
Installed from Feisty-Desktop-i386 daily build of 20/2/7 and installed updates
through update notifier yesterday.
Just completed loading my home directory tarred over from my Dapper desktop.
Strange things started to happen:
1. Tried to run software updates to get todays 5 updates - it wouldn't start
2. Tried to run control centre to run synaptic to get updates - it wouldn't
start
3. Tried to restart the system - wasn't offered shutdown or reboot options.

Logged out then selected restart from login window options.
