[Bug 1058365] [NEW] Empathy (telepathy-sofiasip) cannot connect to SIP server via VPN

2012-09-28 Thread alexus
Public bug reported:

Hi, All!

I am on Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 and I connect to my office network using Cisco VPN
(network-manager-vpnc). The problem is that Empathy (with telepathy-sofiasip
installed) cannot connect to a SIP-server inside VPN (while e.g., Ekiga can).
Some traces taken with Wireshark show up that Empathy sends packages into the
VPN tunnel with properly resolved destination IP-address but with wrong source
IP-address (eth0 instead of tun0).

** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1022488] Re: [region]: does not modify /etc/default/keyboard

2012-07-27 Thread alexus
As I wrote early:
I'm using English (default) and Russian layouts with toggle by Caps key.
I've tried other toggle buttons (e.g., Ctrl+Shift) and I've checked xkb-data
version 2.5-1ubuntu1 (precise) and 2.5-1ubuntu1.3 (precise-proposed). Both are
affected.
xkb-data in precise-proposed still has the version 2.5-1ubuntu1.3. - Nothing
changed during last two weeks.

I found a way to reproduce the issue:
I'm using USB keyboard. Disconnect the keyboard's cable and reconnect it back
always leads to override of ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/
settings by mentioned in /etc/default/keyboard.
Attempt to change settings via GnomeControlCenter works until the next
reconnection of keyboard (or reboot).

[Bug 1022488] [NEW] gnome-control-center region does not modify /etc/default/keyboard

2012-07-09 Thread alexus
Public bug reported:

After fresh installation of Ubuntu 12.04 I have changed the settings of
switching between keyboard layouts. Unfortunately the new settings work maximum
until a reboot or even some applications stop usage of the new settings during
current session.
Some investigations show up that file /etc/default/keyboard was not modified
during implementation of settings.
After manual change of the file switch between layouts works as expected, but
further attempts to change toggle combination of keys or keyboard indicator for
layouts via gnome-control-center do not work.

[Bug 1022488] Re: [region]: does not modify /etc/default/keyboard

2012-07-09 Thread alexus
@Sebastien Bacher:
You are right: local user's settings do not have to affect the system-wide
settings. In this case the description sounds like workaround only. But in this
case there have to be a proper place within the user's settings area which will
keep the current user's setting not overwritten by system-wide settings during
start-up or during normal work.

[Bug 1022488] Re: [region]: does not modify /etc/default/keyboard

2012-07-09 Thread alexus
I'm using English (default) and Russian layouts with toggle by Caps key. I've
tried other toggle buttons (e.g., Ctrl+Shift) and I've checked xkb-data version
2.5-1ubuntu1 (precise) and 2.5-1ubuntu1.3 (precise-proposed). Both are affected.
In spite of files below ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/ are
modified by gnome-control-center (looks like correctly) something prefer to use
or overrides settings with /etc/default/keyboard.

P.S.: There are many posts about the problem in Russian internet-blogs
related to the Ubuntu with the proposed workaround to edit
/etc/default/keyboard. So I could propose that this is the common
problem.
