[Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?"

2024-05-11 Thread andrey
Hello JK (m0d), same sad behavior.
Why i can't just downgrade 1 package via...
`sudo apt install libmutter-10-0=42.9-0ubuntu7vv1`
Many gnome packages will be removed after this downgrade.

May be someone have another solution for do this safely?
Ubuntu 22.04.4 now is unusable for my work purposes..

[Bug 2018455] Re: gnome-shell exits after screen lock / unlock & login segfault libmutter-12.so.0.0.0 in Ubuntu 23.04 on Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen10

2023-08-07 Thread Andrey Arapov
> This bug is incomplete awaiting a clear crash report. For each file
you find in /var/crash please run ubuntu-bug so the crashes can be
analysed automatically. That will also create new bug reports each time.

Daniel, I've just hit this issue again after switching Xorg to Wayland.

Running "ubuntu-bug _usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.crash" doesn't do much but
showing:
"Sorry, Ubuntu 23.04 has experienced an internal error.
If you notice further problems, try restarting the computer."

After changing "Send error reports to Canonical" (in gnome control panel ->
"Privacy" -> "Diagnostics") back to "Automatic" (from "Never") and re-running
the `ubuntu-bug` command again -> the "Send" button returned and the window
just disappeared after clicking it. So I can't confirm whether it was uploaded
anywhere.

Hence, I've attached the new crash dump, encrypted with your GPG key.

I've switched the status to Confirmed since it was reported by another
user as well - qwertys318

[Bug 2018455] [NEW] gnome-shell exits after screen lock / unlock & login segfault libmutter-12.so.0.0.0 in Ubuntu 23.04 on Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen10

2023-05-04 Thread Andrey Arapov
Public bug reported:

The issue is happening 9 out of 10 times.
It is hard to get a crash dump in /var/crash during this error though, but I
found one from few days ago. Looks like should be relevant.

I've reported it, see OOPS ID: b68253a2-ea4c-11ed-af33-fa163e55efd0

Laptop: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10, model 21CB007WCK

root@x1:~# uname -a

To reproduce:
1. Win+L to lock the session
2. Screen turns black as expected
3. Login back to your session
4. Welcome to the new & clean session... all unsaved work is lost!
5. see gnome-shell segfault in libmutter-12.so in dmesg

It was difficult to figure how to send the report in Ubuntu 23.04, previously
it was just working... but with Ubuntu 23.04 there was this error:

Fixed by changing "Send error reports to Canonical" (in gnome control panel ->
"Privacy" -> "Diagnostics") from "Automatic" to "Never" and re-running the
`ubuntu-bug` command again.

[Bug 1950026] [NEW] gnome-shell leaks mem, 13.8G virt, 1.3G reserved after few days of uptime

2021-11-05 Thread Andrey Lelikov
Public bug reported:

gnome-shell leaks memory like crazy. after 4 days of uptime it uses
13.8G virt and 1.3G reserved mem. This is after I switched to wayland to
mitigate the same issue, but on X.org it was much more crazier - about
20G virt / 1.5G reserved after one-two days of uptime, only the leak was
in X.org process (2 of them, greeter and main), not gnome-shell.

p.s. I do understand that gnome is the best piece of software, and I just use
it incorrectly - likely I have some extension or application that is at fault.
The bug report is sort of rhetorical.

p.p.s. Unmodified LTS system (focal). Started to manifest about a month
ago, out of the blue, no changes...

[Bug 1939592] Re: Login screen (gdm3) is purple blank after switching userA -> userB -> userA again

2021-08-13 Thread Andrey Arapov
** Description changed:

Login screen (gdm3) is purple blank after switching userA -> userB ->
  userA again.

Sometimes need to switch 5 times.. but definitely after around 5 times
gdm3 breaks (it shows just a blank purple screen with the cursor).

  ## Workaround

Ctrl+Alt+F3 (or F4.. F5...) until I get to the user I need to (and unlock the
screensaver there).
OR: switch to the console and run "exec sudo systemctl restart gdm3". ("exec"
is not necessary but highly desirable from the security point of view, so there
won't be a logged in session).

  ## Workaround 2

To not use gdm3. There are alternatives such as sddm or ligthdm:

  sudo apt install sddm

  OR

  sudo apt install lightdm

-
  Ctrl+Alt+F5 (drop to a console)

[Bug 1920758] [NEW] login screen loses characters in labels

2021-03-22 Thread Andrey Zapariy
Public bug reported:

After 12 days of uptime the sequence of locking screen/unlocking screen led to
characters missing in prompt of login screen. The hint 'Password' that is
written in the password entry field was missing characters as well.
After successful unlocking of a session, some labels and titles on panels and
dock are missing as well.
I don't know if I pointed the culprit application correctly.
Attached is the snapshot of the upper right corner of the screen, showing the
issue.

NextCloud client can be fixed by using the same approach — add
X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=5
to the ~/.config/autostart/Nextcloud.desktop file.

[Bug 1846944] Re: Nextcloud client app indicator icon not visible in 19.10 Eoan Beta

2021-03-14 Thread Andrey Yermolayev
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1897754 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1897754

This looks like a timing issue related to the recent changes in the U20.04.01.
A simple fix which works for me is to delay the start of NextCloud for several
seconds (5 in my case), by adding
X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=5
to the ~/.config/autostart/Nextcloud.desktop file.

[Bug 1843898] Re: Snap Store does not have "launch" button on installed app pages

2020-10-27 Thread Andrey Ponomarenko
I have the same problem. The Launch button disappeared in Ubuntu 20.04.
But it was presented in previous Ubuntu versions.

How could this be released? Looks like a showstopper bug. People install
apps, but can't launch them. Instead they should find installed apps in
the start menu.

[Bug 353356] Re: Gnome screensaver lock always reports "incorrect password"

2018-07-18 Thread Andrey Roenko
Same issue on 18.04.

Sometimes, not always, lockscreen starts saying "wrong password".
Currently I'm fixing it via switching to a tty (ctl+alt+f1) and sending SIGTERM
to everything that mention screensaver except for gsd-screensaver-proxy (simply
via htop interface). After that workaround I'm sometimes stuck with a session
that turns off my monitors every 30 seconds of inactivity.

It's really annoying.

[Bug 1779871] [NEW] Ubuntu automatically suspends the laptop for the background user when switching back to it from the foreground user.

2018-07-03 Thread Andrey Arapov
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

1. Install Ubuntu 18.04 on a laptop
2. Create two user accounts
3. Login to the first account and switch to the second account
4. Disconnect the power plug and work (while on the battery) from one (or the
other) account for some time (more than 20 minutes which is default according
to the "gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
sleep-inactive-battery-timeout" CLI command)
5. When switching a user back to the other account, it will automatically
suspend the laptop.

Workaround:

For each(!) user disable "Automatic suspend" in the Power settings or same with
the CLI command:
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
sleep-inactive-battery-type 'nothing'

Bug?

I think it is as having the multiuser session, switching back to the
background user it should not immediately force the laptop sleep due to
the background user inactivity.

How to solve it?

gnome-settings-daemon should probably not take into account the
inactivity timer (or rather reset it) when there are other foreground
users are using Ubuntu.

[Bug 1247363] [NEW] Japanese keyboard layout intercepts caps lock key in ubuntu 13.10

2013-11-02 Thread Novikov Andrey
Public bug reported:

Hello.

I've installed Ubuntu 13.10 (clean install on new machine), there are
lot of changes for configuring keyboard layouts and I've tried to
configure it as I've used earlier: Englis (US), Russian and Japanese
(Anthy) with switching between them with Caps Lock key. (See attached
screenshot).

Caps Lock switching works fine between Russian and English and vice-
versa, but with Japanese I can switch only TO Japanese (not FROM), in
Japanese layout Caps Lock starting to work as usual Caps Lock (as a
switch between small and BIG letters), so I need to use mouse to switch
back to Ru or En layout.

This happens ONLY with Japanese layouts (I've tried also simply
Japanese and Japanese (Kana)), not with Chinese, Korean or
annnything else.

I'm not sure who is blame for that, is it ibus-anthy or anything.

Please help, I want to use Caps Lock to switch between all layouts.

[Bug 932177] Re: XFCE (and other non-GNOME) desktops do not initialise gnome-keyring correctly / WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to PKCS11

2013-07-10 Thread Andrey Bondarenko
As the bug is still present in 13.04 and probably 13.10 Kubuntu users
may be interested in a workaround:

Copy the attached script 01gnome-keyring-daemon.sh into ~/.kde/env
directory.

Files in this directory are sources by /usr/bin/startkde so the script
can finish gnome-keyring-daemon initialization and provide environment
variables for KDE session.

[Bug 1075928] Re: Please, silence IA__gdk_error_trap_pop: assertion `gdk_error_traps != NULL' failed

2013-03-23 Thread Andrey Bondarenko
I don't see taskcoach package in Ubuntu 12.10 repository. For
cryptkeeper, unsetting GTK_MODULES variable removes annoying warning
message about IA__gdk_error_trap_pop.

I'm not expert on GTK or GNOME. AFAIK libcanberra related only to event
sound. Is it useful for KDE desktop or it is GNOME speciffic? Also, why
this bug assigned to gtk+-2.0 package if it is only reproducible with
libcanberra-gtk-module from libcanberra?

2013-03-23 Thread Andrey Bondarenko
Funny. This bug is a fix for bug 834403 (see http://bazaar.launchpad.net
/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/raring/libcanberra/raring/view/head:/src
/canberra-gtk-module.c#L310)

Ok, I agree that unsetting GTK_MODULES does not resolve the issue, it
just disables buggy module, but now I'm sure that the bug is in
libcanberra not gtk+.

[Bug 932177] Re: XFCE (and other non-GNOME) desktops do not initialise gnome-keyring correctly / WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to PKCS11

2012-12-07 Thread Andrey Bondarenko
In my opinion, for Ubuntu-based distributions the root cause of the bug
is in lightdm package. At least, in quantal it becomes default display
manager for all desktops including non-GNOME ones.

In files:
 * /etc/pam.d/lightdm
 * /etc/pam.d/lightdm-greeter

it has the following line:

session optionalpam_gnome_keyring.so auto_start

The line starts gnome-keyring daemon for all desktops, while only few of them
can properly set up gnome-keyring right now.
Probably only_if argument should be used, so keyring daemon will start only for
supported environment.

One possible workaround is to switch from lightdm to DE speciffic display
manager which don't start gnome-kering
at all.

[Bug 1025483] [NEW] gedit tab label doesn't belong to currently active document

2012-07-16 Thread Andrey Gelman
Public bug reported:

Every now and then it happens ...
When, say 2, documents are open, it happens that clicking a particular tab
activates the aproppriate document, but the 'other' tab is 'on the front'. At
this point, looks like the correlation between active tab and active document
becomes inverse. At some point in time, it may become normal again.

[Bug 652080] Re: gnome-terminal does not use dimensions from gconf

2010-09-30 Thread andrey i. mavlyanov
Oh. I'm very sorry. This is not a bug. The problem was that /apps/gnome-
terminal/profiles/Default/use_custom_default_size key was unchecked. I'm
not sure if it is not a new key, anyway this is not a problem - just a
strange situation.

Please, close the bug.

[Bug 637465] Re: evince crash opening one of pdf files

2010-09-23 Thread andrey i. mavlyanov
Strange policy... If the program crashes on the normal file and the bug
found - it should be fixed in all maintained versions of the
distribution. If not - why should we use LTS then?!
