The only reason why I turn off the nautilus desktop is that i don't like the desktop metaphor (whereas I like the Netbook Remix way for instance). Considering recent bug fix in Epiphany 2.27.92, it looks like that bug could be related to applications themselves. Therefore i add Nautilus and Eye of GNOME to that report since both have a menu entry for size resetting that points out to ctrl+0 shorcut. I don't add Evince since i didn't see a similar entry in its menu therefore i'm not sure that ctrl+0 is supposed to be a shorcut (which could be a lack of consistency through GNOME but this would be another bug) -- Reset size with ctrl+0 from num block for eog nautilus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275320 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Wow i couldn't say better that kiki (comment 37) : it's a very well-balanced opinion It would also fix Bug #57210 having the search filed replacing the location bar doesn't look optimum to me -- Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386150 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 386150] Re: Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly
Here are mines : 1. Place all shorcuts in sidebar (i.e. Computer) - no shorcuts in toolbar. 2. Don't replace the Location Bar with Search field it seems confusing to me (note that GTKFileChooser acts in a similar way but not exactly and i find GTKFileChooser to be less confusing than Nautilus i don't know why) Maybe a permanent Search Field could replace Home, Computer and Search buttons ? 3. Let the Location bar distinct : it allows to display large paths 4. Organisze the side bar : see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=508404 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=576587#c20 Maybe it's more than a papercut ? ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #508404 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=508404 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #576587 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=576587 -- Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386150 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 386150] Re: Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly
considering my comment 40 i changed my mind finally it's logical to have the search field replacing the location bar since there is no location to display when doing a search (by definition) Therefore here are my suggestions : 1. fix Bug #57210 (already done!) 2. Let the Location bar distinct : it allows to display large paths 3. [Bug 275320] Re: ctrl+0 doesn't reset icon size within Nautilus, EoG etc (Intrepid)
i'd like to check if we're saying the same thing : when i say ctrl+0 is not working i'm speaking of the 0 key that stands on the numeric keypad whereas the number key that can be accessed in combination with the shift key works (ctrl+shift+à on a french keyboard) Therefore i'd like to be able to set the zoom factor with the numeric keypad, keying ctrl++, ctrl+- and ctrl+0.
