[Bug 490201] Re: [lucid] Nautilus asks password when accessing workgroup

2010-01-30 Thread darthanubis
No longer get the error. Have no idea what happened to change the issue
other than the updates that got pulled down and rebooted this morning.
My machine sees all the other machine shares, and no longer ask me for a
password. But I can't see my own machine as a sharing machine in the
workgroup.

Ok, samba did not start itself after boot. I had to manual just while
typing this run the server. hope it autostarts next boot?

Yeah well, it still does not see itself in the workgroup. I was able to
see it form a another Karmic machine, but after restarting the server,
the Karmic server sees no machines. You have to laugh at the state of
samba in Ubuntu at this point. Not once have I had a consistent
experience with samba.

[Bug 235759] Re: when opening trash as root, nautilus crashes

2008-06-05 Thread darthanubis
Root nautilus trash selection freezes nautilus and eats memory until
nautilus killed.

This manner of closing bug reports is trifling. There is no crash
report generated in all instances. In my case Nautilus never crashes,
just hangs and eats RAM. So in this case, what report is to be
submitted? Because there is no report, there is no bug?

[Bug 21053] Mythexport

2008-04-24 Thread darthanubis
I believe I made a breakthrough!

http://pastebin.com/m252c2bd

I compiled ffmpeg myself. What I noticed is two things.

1. The mythexport is calling for aac support when ffmpeg does not
recognize that as a proper codec. FFMPEG is looking for libfaac.

 nice -n19 ffmpeg
-i /home/anubis/store/mythtv/video/1061_2008042219.mpg -acodec aac
-ab 192kb -vcodec mpeg4 -b 600kb -mbd 2 -flags +4mv+trell -aic 2 -cmp 2

/home/anubis/store/mythtv/video/1061_2008042219.mpg: I/O error
occured
Usually that means that input file is truncated and/or corrupted.

2. There is no libfaac support compiled into mediabuntu's ffmpeg. Thus
resulting in the file error.

Compling FFMPEG with libfaac and libfaad support enabled and
changing the aac option in the command line to libfaac reseluted in
a successful transcode from a .nuv file!

[Bug 184784] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()

2008-01-29 Thread darthanubis
In all seriousness Nautilus crashes so often, and apparently often with
no reason, other than it being used, I'm not sure what I was doing a
week ago. I've have noticed less instability, but then Nautilus has been
crippled it seems. Common file associations like text files and
archives, have no program associations with them. Also, the Nautilus
scripts, are installed, but not visible from right click any longer.

[Bug 160264] Re: compiz displays white screen when locked

2007-12-21 Thread darthanubis
cat /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0
Model: GeForce 6200
IRQ: 16
Video BIOS: 05.44.a2.06.61
Card Type: AGP
DMA Size:32 bits
DMA Mask:0x
Bus Location:01.00.0

cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version
NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 169.07 Thu Dec 13 18:34:01 PST
2007
GCC version: gcc version 4.1.3 20070929 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.2-16ubuntu2)

Version: 169.07
Operating System: Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T)
Release Date: December 20, 2007

Fast User white out still present.

I followed the bug report for the VT switch bug months ago and had no
issue switching to and fron tty. Have also been running the beta 169.04
for compiz stability.

Considering the changelog for this driver :

Fixed several X rendering issues.
Fixed stability problems with some GeForce 6200/7200/7300 GPUs multi-core/SMP
systems.
Fixed a problem with Compiz after VT-switching.
Improved RENDER performance.
Fixed a bug that caused corruption with redirected XV on GPUs without
TurboCache support.
Improved usability of NVIDIA-settings at lower resolutions like 1024x768 and
800x600.

I had hoped all would be well.

Oh well

I could not import from a folder with in thr folder name. I saw this
report and changed the to a -, and was able to import the folder.
Not only would it not import, but would not even play from the folder.

[Bug 93381] Re: [Feisty] Name column width in nautilus

2007-11-22 Thread darthanubis
 MrAuer wrote on 2007-03-19: (permalink)

Also, Nautilus doesnt remember the widths of the columns if theyre
changed. When you close and reopen Nautilus window, the columns revert
to their original widths. Happens every time.

And after 8 months, and all of these patches. This problem still is
evident if Gutsy:(.

For crying out loud, can this get address, or are we waiting another 6
months for this to show up in the LTR?

the real solution would be for it to store the column settings for the
directory

Any reason why in 8 months no one can make this happen?

[Bug 149954] gdm failsafe starts, but does not bring one to the desktop

2007-10-06 Thread darthanubis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

The new gdm failsafe feature in Gutsy does not bring one to desktop, no
matter if the default or correctly given hardware specs allow the
desktop to be brought up. I on;y see it work once, and that was with the
Fiesty kernel I was running 2.6.20. I'm now using the 2.6.22.13 kernel.
Again I had to use the nvidia install script, as the restricted modules
did not bring my nvidia 6200 up and running. I had to start in failsafe
mode for my kernel, then start init runlevel 3. This starts gdm, and I
had to drop to term, log in as root and kill X, which killed GDM. This
allowed me to run the nvidia script, and reboot to have my desktop back.
Love Gutsy thanks!
