[Bug 2064354] Re: File manager crashes on run
> nautilus is the filemanager, it's not used to select files in other applications (that's the fileselector widget from GTK) Thanks, this confirms other applications are affected as well. Following the other bug you linked, I can confirm that (at least) GNOME settings and the system monitor are affected as well. I wonder why 535 was the most recent driver offered by "Software & Updates -> Additional Drivers". Anyway, switching to the nvidia 550 driver seems to resolve this issue for me fully. [Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows
The same issue here in Fedora32 gnome-shell 3.36.5. Alt+F2->(r) fixes the issue for a while, but in some time it comes back. The mouse clicks are inactive in the middle of the screen (horizontally), but seem to work correctly on the left and right. For example in Chrome with 29 tabs opened, first 11 tabs get correctly activated with the left click. The tabs 12-20 are immune to the click and 21+ get again activated correctly. of course the same thing happens in the other apps. For example windows cannot be dragged when clicked within the 'dead' are, however when clicked in first ~30% or last ~30% (horizontally) they are dragged as expected. [Bug 1855757] Re: [nvidia] Background image corrupted after standby or resume from suspend
OMG, this looks like it's it. On my main computer with Geforce 330M I have a background that's 1x screen res and I haven't been getting the corrupted background. I just switched to a stock Ubuntu bg image, which I presume is much larger than 1440x900, suspended the machine and now it's completely white. The corruption I now get after resume from suspend is this: 1. The Gnome menu (the one on the left after pressing the super key) when using Gnome session is corrupted or invisible. Moving the mouse over the icons makes them appear and closing and re-opening the overlay fixes it. The left menu from Ubuntu session seems fine, but I only tried a couple of suspends as I use the Gnome session. 2. Current program icon in the top bar of the Gnome session gets corrupted. 3. Icons in some applications (like Cura) get corrupted. I think it may be related to Qt. [Bug 1855757] Re: [nvidia] Background image corrupted after standby
I have this problem on two machines, both using the 340 Nvidia driver and running Ubuntu 19.10. On one machine, with a Geforce 330M, only the lockscreen gets corrupted. On the other, running Geforce 8600M, both the lockscreen and wallpaper get corrupted. This didn't used to happen on 18.04, I was hoping to get better performance that came with 19.10 and now there's this. :-( With Nvidia EOLing the 340 driver recently, I was hoping to get another 5 years of both machines with Ubuntu 20.04 (if the driver continues working there at all), so hoping this does get fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855757 Title: [nvidia] Background image corrupted after standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1855757/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hi all, I have been following this discussion for a while because the connection to my A2DP device was broken after upgrading to 14.04 with all the symptoms described above. Following David Henningsson's suggestion in post #71, I used apt-get purge blueman to fully uninstall blueman from my system. [Bug 1035221] Re: xdg-open/gnome-open opens blank firefox
After a lot of digging into the various involved components including some stracing I found out why it didn't work and how to fix this: It seems the default applications are found via .desktop files in /home/user/.local/share/applications. I had some older entries in there, probably from Ubuntu editions from a few years back (I am not a fan of re-installing and usually update from one to the next version). There were several firefox entries in there, when I removed all of them, I could not select firefox any more as default application in the system settings, however when I copied over the firefox.desktop entry from /usr/share/applications/ and re-selected firefox as the default application, I can now open http-links from all the applications again. Not sure who or what is to blame here, somehow my deleted-files folder does not show the removed .desktop files any more, so I cannot post them to allow for closer analysis, maybe the original reporter with the same problem can post the files. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to libgnome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1035221 Title: xdg-open/gnome-open opens blank firefox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgnome/+bug/1035221/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1000686] [NEW] gnome-terminal moves around when switching tabs on XFCE
Public bug reported: When installed and used on XUbuntu, gnome-terminal behaves very weird: When clicking in the wrong places, the whole window moves around by itself. Its sounds weird, please try it out yourself. To reproduce: 1. Use XUbuntu 12.04 2. Install gnome-terminal 3. Open a second tab in the terminal 4. Click in the menubar in the blank area right to Help (= nothing happens) 5. Click on one of the tab-headers or in the terminal-surface (white area) itself (= Mouse changes to hand icon) 6. Move around mouse After this, the terminal window follows the mouse as if it was glued, this is defenetively not what is desired, I only clicked, never dragged the mouse! I tested this on the Xubuntu 12.04 Live CD, the bug is there to, so do not think it is a configuration issue. --- ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu7 Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Release amd64 (20120425) Package: gnome-terminal 3.4.1.1-0ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-24.37-generic 3.2.14 Tags: precise Uname: Linux 3.2.0-24-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dialout dip fax floppy fuse lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo tape video ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected precise ** Tags added: apport-collected precise ** Description changed: When installed and used on XUbuntu, gnome-terminal behaves very weird: When clicking in the wrong places, the whole window moves around by itself. [Bug 390989] Re: [SecurityRoadmap] Locked screen shows the desktop
I'm affected, too. I don't believe, this has something to do with drivers (I'm using nvidia-current) but I think, there is a flaw in the lock-mechanism. Occasionally, my desktop does not just flashes, but reveals the running applications *on top* of the login field (see attached screen shot). I'm strongly confident, this is just another reason, why you can't use Ubuntu in companies (think of a payslip sheet at the accounting). ** Attachment added: Picture taken from locked screen. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/390989/+attachment/2675567/+files/information-leakage.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390989 Title: [SecurityRoadmap] Locked screen shows the desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/390989/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 677668] Re: Volume doesn't implement mount error when accessing SMB shares from browser
With the latest 10.10 and 11.04, bookmarks linking to network shares are no longer displayed in the file chooser dialog of Firefox. In 11.04, the dialog shows the mounted share in the media list above the bookmarks though. Uploading network files from there works. Unmounted shares are not shown at all - neither in the media list nor in the bookmarks list. In 10.10, network shares are not shown anywhere in the file chooser dialog, be them mounted or not: There's no way to upload files from a network share in 10.10. I have exactly the same problem, hardware is: Intel i5 chipset with 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) using a fully patched Ubuntu 11.04. This bug happens to me both, when using metacity (so the 'no effects') and compiz. See this screenshot for explanation: http://i.imgur.com/ntMct.png I worked in firefox on workspace 3 and switches over to a gnome-terminal running vim on workspace 2. [Bug 769204] [NEW] System refuses to respond after dragging text to terminal icon on the unity panel while running powertop in the terminal
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal This happened by mistake. I can reproduce this bug again. After marking and dragging (left click and holding the left mouse button) some text from chromium browser onto the gnome-terminal icon in the unity panel, (the terminal is running the program powertop) waiting one or two seconds and then releasing the left mouse button the system hangs.
