Re: [Bug 183176] Re: cannot send email - no AUTH attempted

2008-01-19 Thread fa-schmidt
I can confirm that.
Evo finally works again.
What caused this behaviour was , as far as i understood,
a software miswiring inside the password input dialog.
Instead of ACCEPT the input it did QUIT.
This is also what i noticed when i wireshark'ed the telegram and
compared the results to mozilla thunderbirds data telegrams.

have fun !

Hello !

No, i do not have the password(s) stored.
I type both POP and SMTP pws in every time.
I even used forget passwords to make everything clean.

[Bug 183608] (Hardy) Evolution does not send / receive mail after upgrade

2008-01-16 Thread fa-schmidt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Since the upgrade of Hardy on Jan.15th i cannot send / receive any mail with
evolution.
I have a POP3 account with unencrypted password connection and a SMTP alike.
Using Thunderbird with the same account data gives no problems at all so i am
very shure that
there is no typo in configuration or so.
And i could send / receive mail with evo before the updates.
I cannot see any obvious altering of programs after the update took place.
I reinstalled the evolution related packages to no avail.
Funny thing is that if i wireshark the evolution POP connection it seems as if
the
mailserver is tagged by evo and responses and before any data are exchanged
evo sends a QUIT message.
I am not too deep into that package so i cannot give any better analysis.
I wouldn't have opened a bug report if Thunderbird had the same behaviour so
one could
conclude that it has something to do with extreme alpha situation of Hardy.
Ok. Thanks alot for your help !

[Bug 183176] Re: cannot send email - no AUTH attempted

2008-01-15 Thread fa-schmidt
Very similar to my problem.
Using Evolution with authentification PLAIN plus password for SMTP and PASSWORD
plus password for POP.
Worked well all the time until todays upgrade.
Checking my mail account by using a webmailer. It tells me last login time the
time
i used to contact the box by Evolution. So something happens..but what ?
Using wireshark with a filter on my ip seems to tell me that immediately after
sending
the login password for POP Evolution sends quit and does not transmit any data.
(I do not use 'remember password).
I could send some more information if you point me how to analyse the thing a
bit deeper.
