hi sir perdo, thanks for reading my question. i think we can cancel this question as this problem happened on 9.10 . i moved to 10.04 just recently, just a month now. as you will notice the date i reported it was still 2010. as for my other question which you replied lately also. you asked me to move to 10.10. today i went to computer shop searching for a new laptop so i can install 10.10 or whatever ubuntu. i can not just delete this present 10.04 on my HP, this is also new and so far as of today it is working fine now. i will still observe if no minor/major problem will occur. the only problem i encountered is the visualization in rhythmbox. not so important to me so i am not in a hurry to just delete this 10.04 so i told you i just look for another unit for testing new OS. i reported the visualization problem so for engineers/programmers in the community can repair it so that new linux user will not encounter same problem , so they will enjoy..ha ha ha.. oh. i have another report which i will check again. in audacious .. i think i have the problem both in 9.10 and 10.04. it is the rep and rand button on the player. when tick, it will crash/corrupt the music file/album in playlist editor. i will check that report again to make sure if i also have it in 10.04. i can't remember. i am afraid to tick the button again. it also affect the music files in music folder played during the time the button was ticked. i will post this question again since it is about audacious.. this is a different case.. again, thanks for your help.. gary -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/689587 Title: screen now dims when idle and always need to press Fn + F8 to brighten again. before i just move mouse and the screen is bright again. the user name on upper panel creates a white thick line beneath the name while pressing Fn+F8 to adjust brightness. hi, yes sounds work now for i use karmic koala.. if i will reinstall jaunty.. the sound will disappear again.. i guess the problem is with jaunty.. if i install avant manager now on karmic koala.. it kills rythmbox.(stock on my screen-no reaction) i experienced it and i reported it already.. 2 things i have not tested , the lightscriber function and sd card of this HP..i always forget.. and i do not see any software for it from synptic pkg mgr.. hi sir, thanks for taking time to read my question.. but after i posted the question i received a copy of ubuntu 9.10 kk from canonical and then installed it to replace 9.04.. the sound works and all other function of my laptop except the cd-lightscriber function (cd face design-etching).. i.e. as i can see now, of course maybe if there are bugs on software installed.. so far the problem i have with rythmbox is text|html decoder which is needed to play some internet radio station.. i can't find it in synaptic pkg mgr..For cd play rythmbox is good but no options/menu to adjust sound quality like equalizer or bass booster or whatever.. it is just plain sound..anyway it is good player and no skipping even on old /scratch disc being played.. i installed audacious for radio streaming.. i am not sure if this is the right place to send my question but here it is. hi, thanks for reply. by the way i am totally new in computer, and i am now confuse on this... my laptop is totally mute,, no sound at all but if i will reinstall the windows7 OS everything works fine even the lightscriber of dvd and up to the small detail that i only know.. not only the ryhtnbox not working sound but even the alert sounds built in to this laptop. other function dvd run but no sound too.. camera works but no sound on chat, so text and sign language is used then. what i have now is just plain web browsing and e-mail... thanks for any help.. oh! what is sound card and sound driver ,, is my computer lacking this ? i don't think so since sounds works with windows7... i used the cd live i requested from linux canonical in installing ubuntu. thanks for any help you will extend.. Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: rhythmbox hi, i just reinstalled my cd live ubuntu 9.04 back to my new laptop.. downloaded all package software from repo, up-date all through up date manager.. but still no sound../// rhythmbox version 0.12.0-0 ubuntu4...installed on i386 architecture/ hp compaq 510 product mdl no.
