[Bug 1292041] Re: Lockscreen doesn't turn off the screen

2016-09-28 Thread Giannis Bekoulis
The bug is still present for me in 16.04 as well.

Dual monitor - ctrl-alt-l or turn screen off when inactive do not turn
off the screen.

The workaround suggested from fugounashi works i.e., xset dpms force off but
it is not permanent.
The problem will come back after a while.

[Bug 1201229] Re: Should be a choice for one graph on multicore CPUs

2013-07-16 Thread giannis
I am using 3.4.1 on 12.04 LTS.

Yes this is close to what i would like to see. So it would be good to
have the option to set it to display the percentage of total CPU use
instead of each 4 cores use for example. Like Windows task manager.

[Bug 1201229] [NEW] Should be a choice for one graph on multicore CPUs

2013-07-14 Thread giannis
Public bug reported:

It is more than a feature missing than a bug.

System monitor should be able to set to display the CPU load in one
graph even in multicore CPU.

For exaple in a 4 core CPU when one core is loaded 100% and the other 3
are idle, it should be the choice to display that with a number of CPU
load 25%.

Windows task manager has this ability. System Monitor should have this
ability too.

[Bug 605829] Re: metacity causing Xorg to hammer the CPU with a focus-request having timestamp of 0

2010-07-20 Thread Giannis Papaioannou
I have 2 very similar setups of 10.4. One laptop with i915 driver and a
desktop with nvidia driver and dual screen (xinerama). Both setups have
(almost) identical set of panels and gnome applets. The only difference
is an extra panel with window list applet in the second screen on the
desktop box. My laptop runs smoothly and this bug is non existed. On the
desktop box, I have to set focus mode to click or else .xsession-
errors floods with above warnings and cpu load goes up.

AFAIK, it only affects gnome-terminal when using sloppy focus. Other
apps seem unaffected.

[Bug 538612] Re: cursor blinks even when terminal doesn't have focus

2010-06-15 Thread Giannis Papaioannou
This is a valid bug. I have upgraded lucid to the latest updates.

In a screen with 10 gnome-terminal windows, a random half of them have a
blinking cursor. Some windows behave normal, which is no focus no
blinking. When I open a new gnome-terminal, the cursor in that window
blinks only when it has focus. But after a while, without apparent
reason, some cursors blink permanently, even in windows I never typed
anything.

I have no idea what triggers the bug, it seems totally random.

[Bug 317948] Re: ctrl+c doesn't interrupt running process

2009-03-29 Thread Giannis Kozyrakis
I can confirm this behavior. The behavior of Ctrl+C has changed silently
in jaunty, people might not even notice that they have configured ctrl+c
as a 'copy' shortcut.

It should change back to the previous behaviour (send ctrl+c signal if
no text is selected for copy) OR some mention of the change should be
made in the changelog.

[Bug 220555] [NEW] [hardy] amsn does not blink / flash on new messages with metacity on hardy

2008-04-22 Thread Giannis Kozyrakis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

Normally, using aMSN or anyother IM client, when a message arrives there
is some sort of notification.

Using metacity in hardy, this notification started to not work at all.
There is no flashing or blinking of the task bar at all, its like no
notification exists.

This issue did not exist in metacity - gutsy version, only on hardy.

I have done more testing, and if using compiz as a window manager,
flashing is back on the task bar.

Steps to reproduce:

1) On latest gnome - hardy and using metacity, install amsn from the
repositories\
2) Log in an have a friend talk to you and count from 1 to 20.
3) Minimize the contact window while your contact is talking
4) --- The task bar 'entry' of the minimised contact window does NOT blink.

5) run compiz --replace to enable compiz window manager
6) --- Blinking / flashing works.
7) run metacity --replace now
8) --- Blinking stops again.

In kde3 and kde4, blinking works like usual, the issue is specific to metacity
in gnome.

Has something changed with regards to the notification?
