[Bug 521175] Re: Plymouth AND Automatic Login enabled system freezes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 518352 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518352 Wow, I'm nobody to teach anyone lessons but... ok, let's analyze this closure you just did: - You didn't wait for the user that reported the issue to confirm whether adding 'splash' solves the problem. - You didn't even ask the rest of the people (that have confirmed the issue) if they have that option disabled too. - You didn't wait not even 30 minutes to let anyone reply before you closed as duplicate. Confirmation, hello? - The descriptions in both bugs don't even match. Nothing there related to autologin just to put a minor example. Now just think for a second the amount of time these testers (specially vmc) have spent in giving you shitloads of information for you to incorrectly close this in 2 minutes for a minor suspicion of similarity with another bug (which fails to make complete sense in my humble opinion). And that's with a good tester that's punctually giving you all the information you request (i.e. if he/she is now annoyed for your lack of attention, you might have lost one of the few good testers in da house). -- Plymouth AND Automatic Login enabled system freezes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/521175 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu (via bug 518352). -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 147943] Re: [MASTER] broken initial stacking (was: compiz hides quick loading windows at login)
Hi there... I don't know if this has been already addressed, but in case not, here you've got some info: It's already solved upstream: http://smspillaz.wordpress.com/2007/10/05/compiz-fusion-community-news-edition-15-for-october-5th-2007-3d-fixed/ The desktop window is no longer set as fullscreen as this can cause problems with panels So, I think the changes should be backported (due to the upstream freeze). BTW, it has nothing to do with gnome-panel... just compiz. -- [MASTER] broken initial stacking (was: compiz hides quick loading windows at login) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147943 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 146332] Re: bug-buddy crashes java applications (i.e. eclipse)
No, It's not set to true. Anyway, I've not widely tested wheter that was the source of my crashes or not. Just uninstalled bug-buddy 1 day ago according to that workaround in the bug repport and had no more crashes. I'll keep you posted if a new crash occurs, so it wouldn't be bug-buddy's fault. [Bug 146332] bug-buddy crashes java applications (i.e. eclipse)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bug-buddy Bug-buddy is catching segfaults of the java vm, when java vm catches also their own segfaults. This is causing continuos crashes in applications such as eclipse. The patch in this bug report, makes bug-buddy not catch the segfaults of the non-standard applications that use their own segfault treatment. http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479929 ** Affects: bug-buddy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- bug-buddy crashes java applications (i.e. eclipse) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for bug-buddy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 146332] Re: bug-buddy crashes java applications (i.e. eclipse)
Hi. I had to uninstall it today because I need eclipse for my project and it's the only workaround that works. Till today I was using up-to-dated gutsy version (2.18.1-2ubuntu1). As I read, java vm is hiding its bugs by catching their own segfaults. Bug buddy also catches them and thus make eclipse crash. So what they did to solve is just catching the applications that don't catch the signals themselves. I suffered from crashes many times a day while changing from an opened file to another (not the bug of libgtk2.0, that was due to the tooltips). After uninstalling bug-buddy there's no more crashes (till now). If I can help in any other way, make me know. [Bug 128232] Re: Eclipse SEGFAULTs in libgtk-x11: gtk_tooltips_set_tip()
Vanilla eclipse (3.3 version) doesn't crash here. It wont work with the default VM (/usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/jre/bin/java) , so install another and start eclipse with it: In example, after installing sun-java6-jdk package: /opt/eclipse3.3/eclipse -vm /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java Yes, I know, installing 3rd party packages doesn't help ubuntu's development process... BUT many of us need eclipse TO WORK, and simply cannot wait another 2 months for this to be fixed. The other alternative is to install again Feisty and stop testing Gutsy... so this is less bad -- Eclipse SEGFAULTs in libgtk-x11: gtk_tooltips_set_tip() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/128232 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 91982] xchat-gnome wont start again after setting transparency background
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xchat-gnome I can't reproduce exactly the steps because I'm unable to open again xchat. I was changing the settings. The first one I changed was to set transparency as background. At that moment, the program crashed. When I try to open again it won't. Launching it from terminal sends this output: $ xchat-gnome 0 The program 'xchat-gnome' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadImplementation (server does not implement operation)'. (Details: serial 617 error_code 17 request_code 129 minor_code 5) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. Nothing will happen - Change to another folder (by default it extracts to $HOME directory) - Change again to $HOME directory (the same place it was going to extract to at first time) - Click extract.
