[Bug 955263] Re: Copying file to FTP server kills window and thrashes
OK, have installed nautilus-dbg but cannot run it. It installed the executable as /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/nautilus but I get: jaspert@spacehopper:~$ ls -l /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/nautilus -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 7190811 2011-04-08 21:39 /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/nautilus jaspert@spacehopper:~$ file /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/nautilus /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/nautilus: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.15, not stripped jaspert@spacehopper:~$ /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/nautilus bash: /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/nautilus: cannot execute binary file I also tried adding the directory containing it to the PATH but that made no difference -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/955263 Title: Copying file to FTP server kills window and thrashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/955263/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 955263] Re: Copying file to FTP server kills window and thrashes
I'm sorry, you've completely lost me. The instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash told me to install the version with the -dbg suffix if it was available, which I did. Looking through the files in this package I found /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/nautilus which, as shown in my last comment, appears to be an alternative version of the nautilus executable without the symbols stripped. So I am assuming that this is the executable I need to run under gdb in order to get the backtrace. However, I cannot run it, as shown above. I don't know why it will not execute, because it is an executable for the right platform and it has execute permission. I now tried adding /usr/lib/debug/usr/lib to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, but this does not change the result. I have googled all over for causes of cannot execute binary file but cannot find anything useful. So I am stuck. Perhaps I should fall back on the method described for when there is no package with a -dbg suffix available? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/955263 Title: Copying file to FTP server kills window and thrashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/955263/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 955263] [NEW] Copying file to FTP server kills window and thrashes
Public bug reported: May be related to #932935... If you open a window or tab on an FTP server using File - Connect to Server, then drag a file from a window or tab on a local folder to the FTP server, then all is OK if the file is small. However if the file is large enough that the 'progress bar' mini-window appears, then when it is fully transferred, this mini-window remains up, the window or tab on the remote directory disappears, and the Nautilus process starts to take up 100% of CPU, although the app is still responsive. The process continues after all Nautilus windows are closed and must be killed manually. [Bug 138586] Re: Gnometris controls very unresponsive when keys are held down
Just played gnometris for the first time, and indeed with the Tango Shaded theme a lag is detectable at the lower levels, but from level 10 and up the game becomes unplayable, despite it taking only a little over 50% processor power (a rediculous amount for such a game, but at least it shows that it's not maxing out on my CPU - note that I have a single core Celeron 2.66GHz, so no hyperthreading issue). Even clicking the window's close button lags, and I get a force application quit pop-up. When selecting the Plain theme, the game is playable and the CPU stays around 12%. So it seems the game has some serious graphics issues. -- Gnometris controls very unresponsive when keys are held down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138586 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 216383] Re: f-spot can't open photo's when @ in path
I am having the same problem under Hardy, no @ sign involved; it started happening after importing some photos from a Canon camera. Now trying to display any photo, even those that previously displayed OK, either in the window or fullscreen, produces an image like the screenshot above. The thumbnails are displayed OK. Other users on the same machine are not affected; they can use f-spot normally. ** Changed in: f-spot (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Incomplete -- f-spot can't open photo's when @ in path https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to f-spot in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Something else that may be relevant: when you right-click on a thumbnail and select the Open with: submenu, there are no entries, whereas on a machine where f-spot is working normally, there are a few entries in this submenu, starting with Image Viewer. -- f-spot can't open photo's when @ in path https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to f-spot in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 317799] [NEW] Seahorse has no Backup option in Menu (Backup Keyring option Missing)
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Binary package hint: seahorse Problem: Password and Encryption Key Manager Seahorse has no Backup Otion in the Menu (not grayed out, simply not there) to backup your Keys and Keyring Seahorse works fine except for the missing key and keyring backup function. According to the accompanying manual the backup option should be there, and used to be there. Not quite sure when it stop working (did it ever work in Intrepid - I dont know), however I am sure it used to work in Hardy. Reinstalled packages hrough Synaptic - no difference. Still no backup option under Keys main menu entry (where option should be) Using: OS release: Intrepid (8.10) - Linux 2.6.27-11-generic x86_64 GNU/Linux Desktop manager: Gnome 2.24.1 Seahorse version: 2.24.1 (installed packages -Seahorse v2.24.1; Seahorse-plugins v2.24.1; libcryptui0 v2.24.1) Not sure whether I should report this in Ubuntu Launchpad or in Gnome. [Bug 182799] Re: Evolution: Messages aren't deleted from POP mail server with SSL encryption after specified number of days
I can also confirm this with an additional issue: Evolution doesn't clean up pop mail on mail server period. Not with the use of Delete after X days' as not when the settings saying to clean up de mailserver directly after retreival (so no checkmarks set). Using: Ubuntu 2.6.24-19-generic (x86_64 bit version) evolution 2.22.3.1 external mailserver running on a RAQ. Large commercial organisation is running my webserver. Never had any problems with them (subscription period of 8 yrs plus) and their infrastructure has (and still does) always worked with WIN/Outlook/Echange Server/Thunderbird and Linux/Kmail/thunderbird etc. The problem is specifically with evolution. It simpy doesn't clean up the server, not directly nor does it do it after x days (if so setup). I have been tracking this bug for a while now and I must say that it is taking way to long to fix. If you want to become a vailble and sustainable (business) alternative for outlook/echange and finally get the business users over stuff like this should not be happening anymore! I really hope this gets fixed soon, since I am a really big fan of the whole open source project, however for me this is a yet another signal that evolution is still not ready to fulfill the Exchange functionallity that we need to run for our businesses. And at the end of the day that is waht we use it for ;-) Kind Regards JAL -- Evolution: Messages aren't deleted from POP mail server with SSL encryption after specified number of days https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182799 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
