Re: [Bug 104615] Re: cant save attachment in existing folder

2007-05-29 Thread jens_acamedia
i right-click on the attachment and then choose save as or save all (i
had different bugs for these)...

but im sorry to say that i'm now using a backport of TB2 so i can't do
any more testing...

good news is it looks better for TB2. if i find bugs i'll report them
when TB2 becomes officially backported or when gutsy is closer to RC...

thanks sebastian!

Re: [Bug 104615] Re: cant save attachment in existing folder

2007-05-24 Thread jens_acamedia
its very strange that we should experience differences in this
behaviour. my install is default...

1, i use IMAP and click on an email in Thunderbird (standard feisty i.e.
1.5x) with multiple attachments.

2, a gnome file dialog opens with buttons cancel and open...it opens
with the last directory i saved files in...the textbox for filename is
empty.

3, i click open...nothing happens...

4, if i click add directory...then type a name in and then click open
again it saves the attachments there...

as for having only a single attachment - its name needs to appear in the
filename-box...if you choose save as on a single attachment and then
change the directory you want to save it in the filename-box is cleared
and save button becomes inactive until you type a name in manually...

please explain where exactly in this steps we experience different
behaviour...

thanks

Re: [Bug 104615] Re: cant save attachment in existing folder

2007-05-24 Thread jens_acamedia
I'm sorry - I am being confusing...
I didn't check the bug properly before replying...

But I just clicked save on a single attachment in Evolution (IMAP
offline) and the file-dialog which came up contained no filename in the
textbox and the save-button did not respond unless i typed a name in...

I think maybe this bug should be filed with gnome...it seems that the
dialog behaviour doesnt work well Evolution or Thunderbird.

1, it doesnt remember the file-name when changing directories upon
saving single attachment from TB

2, it doesnt allow saving of multiple attachment (Save all) from TB in
the default directory

3, it doesnt let one save single attachment from evolution without
typing in a filename manually.

4, when doing save all from TB the file-dialog counter-intuitively has
open or cancel buttons rather than save or cancel...

do you want me to file separate bug reports on these issues?
on which package should i file them?
can you reproduce? if not, which ones are not reproducible for you?

thanks

[Bug 66465] what do we do with disk management in ubuntu?

2006-10-16 Thread jens_acamedia
Public bug reported:

as far as i can see in edgy and gnome 2.16 there is no disk management
tool.

this means, for example, that a user is unable to format a usb-stick.
they will often come pre-formatted as fat32 but there are many usb-
devices which a user will want in ext3 and not fat32 or whatever else.

what are we going to do about this? is there a plan? apparently gnome
has given up on disk-management.

should we include gparted by default? we can not allow the necessity to
use the terminal for a task this trivial in ubuntu...especially since
with edgy there is no need for the terminal for any other task (in other
words it is becoming complete as a a desktop solution)...

thanks sebastian.

but i do not think it is a duplicate.

the bug you are referring to concerns audio-players. ie. devices which come up
as separate items.

i am talking about music which has been added manually to the library.
regardless of whether or not it resides on a usb-harddrive.

i think it would be good to add an option to NOT check manually added music
for changes

should i write to the rhythmbox dev list or can you forward this idea?

thanks

well - the bug you refer to is about DVD etc. and providing them with unique
identifiers.

im talking about the TIMEit takes to scan the sources to the library.

ill close this bug anyway since its more a feature request. will email the
rhythmbox people.

thanks for your help

[Bug 43590] Re: slider jumps when clicked

2006-05-09 Thread jens_acamedia
since i use totem-xine it is perhaps not the same bug.

anyhow - it seems to be a totem bug since xine does not do this.

it does happen with all video media ive tried (mpeg and dvd).

as soon as i click the slider it jumps. however the timecode seems to be
reliable (in fact, this is how i can tell how much the slider jumps by and how
i find my way back)...

thanks

it does not seem to be a the same issue as

i think this is a totem bug and there is something wrong with the position

[Bug 43590] Re: slider jumps when clicked

2006-05-09 Thread jens_acamedia
it happens in both window-mode and full screen mode...

i grab the slider grip (i assume you mean the handle which moves along the
slider) but dont move it.

this is when - despite me not having moved it - the movie jumps roughly two
minutes ahead.

its easiest for you just too try using the slider grip to move 30 seconds
back in a dvd film. you should be able to see what i mean.

[Bug 43578] monitor changes in library bug

2006-05-08 Thread jens_acamedia
Public bug reported:

Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox

i have ~/Music as my library and monitor for new files checked.

but my main library is on a usb-drive. why does this have to be checked
every startup (leads to 20 seconds of unresponsive program every
startup)

the logic is probably that stuff is added from here and there and the
user should not be forced to clean it all up manually when these files
are deleted or moved.

but with a decent size library +80gb startup becomes too slow!

i think the best solution is to keep library_location and the option to
monitor this. but to add a check box for whether manually added music
should be monitored. this would solve the overhead for somebody like me
whose music collection rarely alters.

if one day it does change i can tick the monitor manually added music
and wait for the database to update...

[Bug 43586] position bottom causes problems

2006-05-08 Thread jens_acamedia
Public bug reported:

Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: gnome-panel

with position=bottom there are at apparently random times
inconsistencies in the way the menus appear.

sometimes the submenus will appear with scroll-buttons. the worst is
that sometimes the root-menus (applications, places and system) have
scroll-buttons and appear at the bottom edge (covering the menu entry
which is chosen)

other times everything appears fine. to reproduce - you need to use
position=bottom for a week and youll see what i mean...

Public bug reported:

Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: evolution

-menu item for bug buddy should probably be removed since bug buddy is
fairly useless in general (only because it is itself so buggy eg.
version numbers are old, many applications not present etc.)and does not
work with evolution in particular

-the advanced search search menu is appears too high on the screen and
displays scroll-buttons (if it was shown slightly lower there would be
no need for scroll buttons). perhaps this is because i dont have a
gnome-panel above evolution (it has position=bottom)

yelp does not have a clear hierarchy of where you are...

if im in ubuntu desktop and type a search word - the search is

all the man-pages...

also it is not clear what the logical difference is between the
categories and random options which are below on the same pages (eg.
applications which has logical sub-categories but also a few wild cards
below these...)

categories are also confusing e.g. what is difference btw. desktop and

very annoying

brought to the front but placed behind all other windows

when i login again gaim is not automatically started.

Public bug reported:

Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)

Description:

when i drag songs from the library into a playlist they somtimes do not
get moved into the playlist. the behaviour is apparently random but when
i hover the song over the playlist long enough for it to become active
and then drop it in the playlist song-list it works...

there is also no indication that i am dropping it on the right playlist
(such as it looking ''active'') but that would not be a problem if i
could rely on the songs dropped actually being ''recorded'' as
dropped...
