[Bug 750700] Re: Unity Compiz plugin captures F10 for menu even when explicitly disabled in gnome-terminal

2011-05-03 Thread joopbraak
Alex, why is this being marked Incomplete (what more info do you need t
solve this ) and why Wishlist?

It's not Wishlist, Unity is interfering with the terminal so function
keys are not disabled for menu's even if you tell it to do so, and
that's a Bug, it's even a regression because it used to work in
Maverick.

By the way, I think it's bad practice to bind function keys (without Alt
or Ctrl, that is) to desktop environment commands, they should be
reserved for applications.

One of those bad Unity design decisions, I guess...

Is it not just the case of the clock-applet's Time Settings still
pointing to time-admin (which is now removed from gnome-system-tools)
instead of indicator-datetime-preferences ?

Yes, you are all right, it doesn't work. It seemed to work for a short
while (maybe I was using a different window manager then, I can't
remember). Anyway, with the latest compiz patches, the problem still
exists.

Steps to reproduce:

Right click panel, choose Add to Panel, add Clock to panel, right
click on it, choose Preferences, Time Settings is greyed out.

I don't know what you mean by indicator or applet, as far as I know the
panel indicators are applets as well.

[Bug 424630] Re: vino-preferences says that your system is reachable using 'localhost'

2010-10-15 Thread joopbraak
Open gconf-editor, go to /desktop/gnome/remote_access and make sure
the value network_interface is empty.

Also make sure Remote Desktop (command line /usr/lib/vino/vino-server
--sm-disable) is enabled in your Preferences, Startup Applications.

But I agree, this should work out of the box and vino-preferences should
have an option to change that and the listening port without having to
use gconf-editor.

[Bug 615300] Re: Enable default Evolution signature as Sent from Ubuntu

2010-09-26 Thread joopbraak
@tracyanne
It's only much ado about nothing if you think that Canonical should not have
higher moral standards then for instance Microsoft.

Also if you can't see that a majority is against this, you must be
delusional.

It certainly is an affront to a majority of the people who are the most
active (you know, the community), the people who are contributing the
most to Ubuntu and whom Canonical is so dependent on.

It was not flagging a idea, it was already implemented.

Also, I find your reasoning about the difference between Ubuntu/Mac/Windows and
how easy it would be to turn it off/on flawed.
That's not what the issue is here.
Following your argument Canonical could implement any change they want, no
matter how bad, because it's Linux and Open Source?

[Bug 505289] Re: In keyboard selector, dropdown box for country selection does not respond to keypress

2010-09-24 Thread joopbraak
The system with the scroll indicators on top and at the bottom is not
very useful.

Please add a scrollbar and/or make it possible to type in the first letter of a
country.
Now for a US keyboard (the most common!) you have to scroll all the way down
which takes more then 10 seconds!

[Bug 646959] [NEW] I want more then one keyboard layout but no keyboard icons in my Indicator Applet

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I don't want it taking up so much space, I change my keyboard layout
with the keyboard shortcut, I don't need the icons on my indicator

Or should I file this as a Indicator Applet bug, for not being

It also overwrites without asking when you uncheck Overwrite existing

[Bug 622025] Re: Opening nautilus takes 20 seconds

2010-08-23 Thread joopbraak
Yes, with a new user profile the same thing happens. It seems to be
reduced to around 10-15 seconds now.

I think you misunderstood, it's not about certain files, it's just when I open
any new Nautilus window, i.e. the Home Folder, Desktop, ..., Computer
shortcuts on the Places menu or any shortcut (not bookmarks) of a folder I made
myself. Once Nautilus is started, it's OK, but even then, when I open another
Nautilus window, even one with the same location, it still takes more then 10
seconds before it shows anything.
So I can go to Places, Downloads, wait 15 seconds until Nautilus has started up
completely, again go to Places, Downloads and again will have to wait 15
seconds.

[Bug 522202] Re: browsing back to windows share in Nautilus 2.29.90 doesn't work

2010-03-18 Thread joopbraak
Open Places, Connect to server...
Service type: Windows share, type in name of samba server and share, user
name and domain name, make a bookmark.
I think it should be a samba share with a lot of folders (mine contained 837).
Open Nautilus.
Click on the bookmark.
Open one of the 837 folders (I opened a folder containing 1077 files).
Click the back button.

Samba version of regarding server: 3.0.24

I have two samba shares I access regularly, one works sometimes with the
back button, the other one (which I have a slower connection to) almost
never.

Now I just tried again and they both work, only when clicking the back
button it takes much longer to show the contents of the root of the
share then the first time.

So the main bug is that the first time it shows the contents of the
share, but when you open a folder and then go back to the root, it
doesn't or it takes much more time.

I keep you posted.

[Bug 522202] [NEW] browsing back to windows share in Nautilus 2.29.90 doesn't work

2010-02-15 Thread joopbraak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I open a Windows share with a slow connection (with +500 directories) in
Nautilus, then open a folder within the share, and subsequently try to go back
to the root of the share by pushing the back button, the hourglass (or whatever
it is nowadays) stays and nothing happens. So the first time I see the contents
of the share, but after opening a folder and then going back, I can't see the
contents of the share anymore.
Only closing Nautilus helps to be able to show the contents of the share once
more.
