This is a static situation. To reproduce: Start xchat-gnome open preferences-scripts and plugins- notification sounds. (these may be called differently as I have a dutch install) Then enter a few words that should be highlighted when mentioned in a conversation in the section preferences. Now there should be played a (ping..) sound every time one of these words occurs in a conversation (i.e your callsign). In hardy this works fine ( I have one laptop still on hardy), But in Jaunty there is no sound anymore. I have a Intel gma 950 and the same problem here: screen dims to almost black and then it pops back up with regular background. It is now june 27 2008 and i have all updates installed. I am sure it worked after I installed Hardy so it must have broken along the way somewhere with updates.
