EXTREMELY annoying! I cannot use my files, only download/upload using file

My music collection is stored on a NAS and accessed via smbfs. All users have 
full access (0777), but trying to remove any song using right click-send to 
trash returns error Cannot find or create Trash folder.
But i.e. Banshee works fine, deletes as intended.
