[Bug 1159492] [NEW] science PDB file is not processed correctly after extraction

2013-03-24 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

The affected archiv will be attached.

When I open the archiv

pdb163d.ent.gz

with file roller, I get the compressed file shown in file-roller GUI,

When I open it within the file-roller GUI with rasmol or jmol all works
correct and the protein structure is shown.

So, far so good.

When I extract the compressed file to the filesystem, close file-roller,
because it is no longer needed.

When I ttry then to open the file

pdb163d.ent

with rasmol or jmol it is not possible. The file is not anymore a
appopriate format for those programs.

Steps to reproduce:

1.Install rasmol and jmol (oneof them may be enough)
2.Donwlaod the file

pdb163d.ent.gz

from here,
3.Extract the file to the filesytem with file-roller
4.Try to open the file with right mouse click - open with... - choose
rasmol or jmol as your choice
5.See only a black visualisation or in jmol an error message(file not found
exception)

If there is a broader need for the BACKSPACE feature the
configuration change mentioned upstream by

James 2013-01-31 02:34:19 UTC

Not sure if it's going to be a default, but you'll need to add this:

(gtk_accel_path Actions/ShellActions/Up BackSpace)

to ~/.config/nautilus/accels to get Backspace back.

HTH for someone reading here.

must be incorporated in the ubuntu package independend of the upstream
as far as I could see.

With menu items you mean File, Edit,... and so on.

As far as I know that is by design. There should only by one menu item
called personal folder

[Bug 1082901] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in _IO_vfprintf_internal()

2012-11-25 Thread melchiaros
Following the headline this here might be a dub of

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/945378

, but the procedure to archive the crsher is different(they only access
the trash folder) and the stacktrace looks only simliar in it's steps. I
could not say if it is the same. They have also not used gksu as far as
I have seen.

[Bug 1080417] [NEW] laptop system : gnome-control-center brightness bar differs from unity shortcut activated brightness bar

2012-11-18 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

On Laptop system there are two ways to change monitor brightness.

The first is with the gnome control center - adjusting the brightness
bar.

The second way is to use keybord shortcuts for the monitor brightness.
- In this case unity shows a wiget on the desktop with a bar for
brightness.

Unfortunally the bar status of both ways are not synchronized.

For illustrating please look at the attached screenshot.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install Raring on a laptop system
2.Use the system center option to adjust the monitor brightness.
3.Use (if available) keybord shortcuts to adjust the monitor brightness.
4.See that both brighness bar differ.

Additional:

On the system I use brightness is not really adjustable(kernelbug), but
anyway the both bars should not differ in anyway.

I have done so, which is elaborious work. My report for my laptop can be found
at:

With respect to this I close this here as invalid, because it missed the cause
of the problem completely. Following the guide I have fould we must file
separate bugs anyway.

[Bug 1050656] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV

2012-09-16 Thread melchiaros
No michael,

this is not the case. You just has not the permission to access the
report that is all. When the original reporter has not set it to puplic
a crasher is by default private.

I know this is neasty and blocks some progress, but for now and with
respect that we have in moment over 2000 open reports for
Ubuntu12.10(until now) it is better to keep a dub whenever it is
possible as such. I do not have the permission to access the report,
too, but a try to close yours as such anyway.

Your report is not lost, it will increse the flame of the original
report; as signal that this is a crasher that is hitten often, and with
this a more important one.

[Bug 947721] Re: gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_tree_view_column_setup_sort_column_id_callback()

Testing Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 on a VM (Virtualbox), I installed GNOME Shell
(gnome-shell 3.2.2.1-0ubuntu1) from the Ubuntu Software Center. I then logged
off and proceeded to test the Gnome Shell environment and, later, Gnome Classic.

I eventually returned to Unity 3D and walked away from my computer for a
few minutes. When I returned I found the following crash message: gnome-
panel crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

When I chose to relaunch gnome-panel, both CLASSIC gnome panels (top and
bottom) were launched instead of just the top one from Unity. The top
panel shows the classic menus (Applications, Places) and the bottom one
has the 'show desktop' and 'change workspace' buttons, and open
application windows minimise to it as expected. I still have a fully
functional Unity launcher.

gnome-panel shouldn't crash, and if it does, the proper gnome-panel
should be relaunched i.e. the one that matches its environment (Unity,
Gnome Shell, Gnome Classic, etc.)

[Bug 1037699] [NEW] nautilus has copy problems from mounted tar.gz archives

2012-08-16 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

I have mounted a tar.gz file with archive mount(package name is not
known to me).

From this mount I have tried to copy the content to /home/user/...

This works with a average speed of 10kb/sec, which could be called: It
is not working.

Steps to reproduce:

1.Download a tar.gz e.g from
http://www.knime.org/downloads/knime/linux64
2.When the download is finished open up with nautilus the Download
destination, click with the right mouse button on the archive and choose the
option Open with...
3.Choose archive mounter as program for opening.
4.See that the tar.gz get mounted and shown as storage in nautilus
5.Open the mounted tar.gz with the new appeared storage symbol from step 4
6.See the root folder of the content
7.Right clik on and copy
8.Switch to a other destination e.g /home/user/Software
9.Paste there
10.See the incredible slow transfer rate, which would take hours/days to
complete on a medium sized tar.gz

[Bug 1017232] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()

2012-08-14 Thread melchiaros
Hi Doug,

the nautilus maintainers on the GNOME project have the same result, they
could not hit the crasher with the latest development of nautilus.

When you do the rechek can you comment on upstream bugtracker what the result
is? In the case when it is gone, please tell them to close their ticket, but
please let the launchpad one open, because oneiric and precise will be still
affected.

Thank you

[Bug 1032216] [NEW] nautilus swithes path wrongly to home of new opened tabs

2012-08-02 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

I have utilized nautilus search to find some example files of a program
called Cain.

This works so far.

On opening the fould folder cain-examples with right mouse option in a
new nautilus tab the problem occures.

When I click on the newly opened tab with left mouse nautilus swithed
automatically to /home/user/ and keeps not on cain-example folder(in
there).

Steps to reproduce:

1.Install Cain
2.Open nautilus
3.Switch in nautilus to filesystem(now called computer - latest nautilus
version)
4.Open up the search function of nautilus with the glass in the right upper
corner.
5.type cain
6.nautilus starts search automatically
7.Wait until the search is finished
8.Scroll down in the result view of nautilus until you find cain-examles
9.Right mouse button click on it
10.Use the option open in new tab
11.See that nautilus open up a new tab with the headline cain-examples
12.Click on the tab with left mouse button.
13.See that the headline cain-exaples switches over to personel folder and
nautilus shows indeed that: your personal folder(/home/user/)

Additional:

cain-examples is in user/share/dock
and root is the owner of it.

This may be associated to the problem.

[Bug 1030310] Re: evince print function is corrupted

2012-08-01 Thread melchiaros
It is to expect that incorparating the change of libcairo should fix the
problem with evince.

May be incorporating the next cairo release(update) should be enough.

** Changed in: libcairo (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1030310] [NEW] evince print function is corrupted

2012-07-28 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

I have used evince for printing a pdf file.

Printing is working, but unfortunally only corrupted, missordered output
comes to the paper.

To check that it is not cups by itself I have used the print preview
function of evince.

What evince print preview shows is the same corrupted output that I have
also after printing on paper.

So, it is a problem with evince by itself.

Addtional:

I attach a screenshot of the print preview of evince, whith the opended
document in evince in background.
I also attach the document which is affected by or causes the error.

Steps to reproduce:

1.Open the attached document with evince
2.Use File - print - print preview and see the error rendered document in
print preview view.
3.Close print preview.
4.Use the print button in the still open print dialog.
5.See that the paper print result is the same as in print preview.

The reproduction procedure hits the error to 100%.

The pdf rendering on the computer screen by evince is working proper
with this document and shows by itself no corruption.

It is only the printing rendering.

[Bug 1030069] [NEW] totem full screen get frozen picture

2012-07-27 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

totem get sometimes a frozen video(flash) picture when playing the video
in fullscreen mode.

Sound is still playing further.

The controll elements of totem do not appear when the mouse touches the
periperie of the screen.

A reliable reproducing procedure I can not give, because it only happens
sometimes.

Reproducing try:

1.Insert a dvd with flash video content
2.Open nautilus and choose a video
3.double click - Quantal starts totem by default
4.When the video is running switch to fullscreen mode
5.May be you see the issue described above.

[Bug 1030069] Re: totem full screen get frozen picture

2012-07-27 Thread melchiaros
The compiz seqfault in XsessionErrors.txt is happends after the totem
misbehaviour and was independend induced by a known unity dash bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/926658

See this as independend of this report. I was just searching for a
terminal to get on apport for reporting. This search causes the
seqfault.
