Well, I can also confirm that killing vino-server fixed the problem,
while killing gnome-settings-daemon and gnome-power-manager did not.

This looks like an independent bug.

[Bug 315077] Re: rhythmbox itself prevents iPod from ejecting

2009-01-23 Thread musically_ut
Hi Sebastien,

I am sorry there was no update on this front for quite some time, I had
lent my iPod to a friend of mine.

However, the problem persists. I reported the bug for the case when I am
not even playing a song, have deleted the song from the iPod and yet
Rhythmbox prevents ejection of the iPod. In the attached screenshot, you
can see that if I am playing a song from the iPod's playlist, I cannot
eject it. Only after I start playing something from my local collection
can I eject my iPod, either by the context menu in the sidebar, or by
using the Eject button on the toolbar.

This behavior, I think, is acceptable if I am playing something from my
iPod, but not when I have paused rhythmbox, deleted that song and am
trying to eject the iPod. :)

Anyways, it might be a system issue with my particular mount options
(maybe)?

Thanks

[Bug 315077] [NEW] rhythmbox itlsef prevents iPod from ejecting

2009-01-08 Thread musically_ut
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Its a rather silly issue.

When I try to unmount my iPod via rhythmbox, it tells me that the iPod
is being used. A quick 'lsof' revealed the following:

utka...@utkarsh-laptop:/media$ lsof | grep MUSICALLY_U
rhythmbox 6104utkarsh 22r REG 8,16 349991530048
/media/MUSICALLY_U/iPod_Control/Music/F69/04 Scar Tissue.m4a (deleted)
--

Apparently it was rhythmbox itself which was holding on to a file on the
iPod which I had deleted; after playing another file from my local music
collection, I was able to unmount the iPod easily.

Is anybody else also facing a similar problem?
