[Bug 482690] Re: gnome-panel hangs on login with more than one weather applet

2010-01-09 Thread nitto
I'm affected by the same bug.

I usually solve in this way:
- Kill the gnome-panel on (Ctrl-Alt-F1) terminal
- return to desktop (Alt-F7)
- click where the log-out icon should be on the panel (the panel is completely
empty but the icons on it works)
- I log-out
- I log-in again. This time the panel is fully working.

[Bug 137453] lack video size UI config option

2007-09-05 Thread Fabio Massimo Di Nitto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

Many webcams support different picture size. In ekiga there is already a
gconf entry to set this up, but it is lacking an easy way to set this
parameter in the preference-video UI.

For *example* the built-in Apple iSight camera needs:

$ gconf-editor

Now, from the left-hand tree, navigate to:
apps ekiga devices video

Change the value for size from 0 to 1.

to get full size picture.

[Bug 28052] Re: Can't adjust mouse sensitivity

2006-05-05 Thread Fabio Massimo Di Nitto
Ok I attached a proof of concept to show that xorg (libx11 and xserver) are
doing the right thing.

How to use it:

edit the main.c file and replace first with 1
build and run
that will set the minimum threshold before the mouse is accelerated.

move the mouse in one corner of the screen and measure how much mouse movement
you need to do to reach the other side of the screen.

change the value again to something absurd like 2000, that means start
accelerating after 2000 pixels.

Repeat the above, and measure again.

In my test i need at least 5 times more mouse movement to reach the other side
of the screen and the mouse move very slowly.

As you can see the value is changed correctly by both control-center and this
program. That means that the comunication between all components happen
properly, but the values that control-center is setting are too low to notice
the difference (at least in my specific case).

This just confirm that the X part of it works. The real problem is the range of

[Bug 24817] Re: nfs-kernel-server 1:1.0.7-3ubuntu1 is buggy with gnome

2006-04-11 Thread Fabio Massimo Di Nitto
the 2 nfs implementations are just different and they were never supposed to be
compatible in that sense. If gnome can't cope with one of them, either gnome
needs to be fixed or Depends: directly on the one that is able to talk to.

[Bug 32428] gconftool-2 turns living people into wormfood

2006-02-21 Thread Fabio Massimo Di Nitto
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32428

Affects: gconf2 (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Dear Desktop Team,

please consider to make gconftool-2 tad faster, because as it stands now
it takes over 20MB of RAM and 5 minutes per run on a 32 CPU machine with 16GB
of RAM, when a full ubuntu kernel build takes about 3 minutes and 37 seconds.

Considering the amount of time that thing is called on each upgrade, by
body will be dead and turn into wormfood at the end of an upgrade
leaving me without the pleasure of testing dapper.

Thanks
