[Bug 1087279] [NEW] Backport evolution-3.6.2 from raring to quantal

2012-12-06 Thread old_toby
Public bug reported:

Evolution 3.6.0 which is installed on quantal is a real pain in the ass.
I constantly have to kill -9 the process to use it again, and the
multiple signatures bug is just annoying.

Now I downloaded the 3.6.2 versions of
libebackend-1.2-5
libebook-1.2-14
libedataserverui-3.0-4
libedataserver-1.2-17
libecal-1.2-15
libevolution
libcamel-1.2-40
evolution-data-server-common
evolution-data-server
evolution-common
evolution-plugins-experimental
evolution-plugins
and of course: evolution
(and also libxml2 2.9.0)

from the raring repositories and installed it with dpkg -i *.deb.

Now my evolution works like a charm and it didn't break any
dependencies.

It wouldn't hurt backporting these packages to quantal, so all quantal
user would have a working evolution again.

I meant that when I entered some data (e.g. my email address), closed
the dialog and reopened it, all information was lost. I can't remember
if that was on livecd or installed system. On the installed system, it's
working now, I have to check first for live mode.

[Bug 712442] [NEW] [Wish] Edit Signatures in Evolution

2011-02-03 Thread old_toby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Ubuntu Natty Alpha 1, Evolution 2.32.1

In the mail account, there's a button to create a new signature. But to
EDIT one, I have to go to $HOME/.local/share/evolution/signature, find
out what signature it actually is that I want to edit, and open in gedit
(or other editor). For an HTML signature, it's quite a nuisance because
you have to edit the source text, not something that e.g. my wife or my
mother could do.

It would be more useful to have another button to edit the signatures
directly in the evolution editor.

[Bug 689066] [NEW] new appointment or new task produces segfault

2010-12-11 Thread old_toby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Natty Alpha 1
evolution 2.32.1-0ubuntu2

When trying to create a new appointment or a new task, evolution crashes
immediately. When I started evolution from commandline, I can see it
produces a segfault.

I actually wanted to report the bug with apport, but everytime I want to
report it, apport itself crashes (#688535).

If anybody can help me on how to add more information, I'll do.

[Bug 673927] [NEW] Can't set time for all-day-events on google calendars

2010-11-11 Thread old_toby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If I want to set a time to an all-day-event, evolution is going on
strike.

How to reproduce:
1. Set up a google calendar
2. Create an all-day event and save it
3. Open it, set it not to be an all-day-event
4. Save

Well, since Maverick came out, there is at least an improvement, i get an error
message:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did
not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply
timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
When I close the message and try to save it again, the same happens as in
lucid: nothing.

[Bug 674024] [NEW] Last of repeated events is lost in google calendar

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick
Evolution 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.1 (though the bug exists for a long time)

1. Set up a google calendar
2. Enter an event at, eg. 1 January 2011
3. Set up a repetition until 31 January 2011

In the preview calendars on that dialogue the 31 January is marked bold,
as it should be

4. Save

The repeated event is shown until 30 January, but there is no event on

[Bug 649543] Re: work week preferences do nothing - no effect

2010-10-19 Thread old_toby
I also have that problem since updating to Maverick, which is very
annoying. As a musician, weekends are workdays for me so I'd like to see
the the whole week.

In the week view, also like the reporter says, the non-work-days are
greyed out, but in the Work week view, they aren't, so they are not
using the same data !?!?

I can also see the effect that Alain A Servais describes. It actually
makes complete sense: When the assumed non-work-days (Sat/Sun) are at
the edges, they are not displayed. If they appear in the middle of the
work week, they are displayed, greyed-out though.

[Bug 349437] Re: System policy prevents stopping the system when other users are logged in

2009-03-27 Thread old_toby
Yes, I never had the bug in intrepid, and I hope it won't even be in
jaunty's final release.

Here is the log:

Session1:
unix-user = '1000'
realname = 'Simon Scheiwiller,,,'
seat = 'Seat1'
session-type = ''
active = TRUE
x11-display = ':0'
x11-display-device = '/dev/tty7'

remote-host-name = ''
is-local = TRUE
on-since = '2009-03-27T09:46:18.998906Z'
login-session-id = ''

When I ran ck-list-sessions the first time (without logging) there was
another session for cron, and after the cron job was finished the bug
didn't appear. So it's probably cron-related.

[Bug 249852] [NEW] search-as-you-type doesn't always work

2008-07-18 Thread old_toby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I open nautilus and want to use search-as-you-type, sometimes
nothing happens at all, sometimes it works, but it seems very arbitrary.
I couldn't find any rule yet when it's working and when not.

Maybe someone has made the same experience, anyway I'll add more
information when I find some possible causes for it...

[Bug 249852] Re: search-as-you-type doesn't always work

2008-07-18 Thread old_toby
ok, I found out something.

Bug is in Hardy Heron with all updates.

How to reproduce:

1. open nautilus (just after the system started or after you haven't used it
for some time, maybe half an hour)
2. type some letters

Expected behaviour:
The typed letters should show up at the bottom right of the nautilus window,
and the first folder/file that starts with the typed letters should be
highlighted.

Actual behaviour:
nothing happens

I just found out that it works if you klick in the address bar and press
enter. It also works then the following times you open nautilus. But if
you don't use nautilus for some time, it stops working again.

I checked it again with the hardy beta livecd and it also happens there.

It's maybe Macbook related cause I'm running it on a Macbook pro and I
get the same issue on my girlfriend's Macbook.

It's gnome-panel 2.22.0-0ubuntu2. I get the error every time (as said,
when I move the date forward, not when I move it backward).

Tomorrow evening I'll be back home and will try with the hardy beta live
cd to see if just something happened when I upgraded (like some other
bugs I have now which don't happen with the livecd so when I reinstall
the computer from scratch they will probably be gone.)

[Bug 207890] Re: Failed to set the system time error message

2008-03-28 Thread old_toby
** Description changed:

+ Clock applet on hardy beta shows unnecessary error message.
+
  Steps to reproduce it:

1- Add the clock applet to a gnome panel
2- Right click on the applet
  3- Adjust date time
4- Change date to some date in the future
  5- Click Set system time

  Error message appears:
Failed to set the system time
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did
not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply
timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

The date is changed nonetheless. When I change the date back to a past
  date the message doesn't appear.

Don't know if it's related to bug #191471 or not.
