[Bug 955915] Re: screensaver shows old screen content on return from sleep

2013-10-10 Thread riban
I am seeing same symptoms in Ubuntu Studio 13.10 Final Beta 2. This uses
xfce4 so this issue may not be gnome-screensaver specific. I believe
this could be classed as a security issue because it occurs after sleep,
before screen lock kicks in, so a user may have put the machine to sleep
expecting it to be (fairly) secure but another user may subsequently see
the desktop (and any open document). As a minimum it is a privacy issue.

[Bug 953586] Re: Rhythmbox does not properly retrieve tags for multiple CD albums.

2012-06-10 Thread riban
If the second disc has more tracks than the first disc, the extra tracks
are tagged correctly, e.g. Disc 1 has 6 tracks and Disc 2 has 8 tracks.
Disc 2's first 6 tracks are tagged incorrectly with Disc 1's track
titles and Disc 2's tracks 7 8 are tagged correctly with Disk 2's
track titles/

[Bug 991100] [NEW] Language package not installed / installing

2012-04-29 Thread riban
Public bug reported:

Fresh install of Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 LST. Select Language Support in
Control Center. Informed language packages not installed (libreoffice-
help-en-gb libreoffice-l10n-en-gb). Accepted offer to install which
failed with report about error connecting to dbus (I think). Re-tried
and installation froze. Cancelled and retried (for third time) and
succeeded.

1. Why is package not installed during operating system / libreoffice
installation when the system seems to know it is required?
2. Failure to install when requested would appear to be a bug.

[Bug 899686] Re: Rhythmbox crashes when selecting Properties for iPod

This issue is not limited to iPods. Other USB mass storage media players
are also affected. I experience this with an iPod Shuffle and also with
a Samsung Galaxy Ace Android 2.3.3.

[Bug 913197] [NEW] Toggling visible columns crashes rhythmbox

2012-01-07 Thread riban
Public bug reported:

Toggling an option to show a visible column in the preferences window
causes the following assertion then rhythmbox closes abruptly:

GLib:ERROR:/build/buildd/glib2.0-2.30.0/./glib/gvarianttypeinfo.c:165:g_variant_type_info_check:
assertion failed: (info-alignment == 0 || info-alignment == 1 ||
info-alignment == 3 || info-alignment == 7)

It sometimes takes a few clicks to trigger the issue but it occurs very
frequently. Sometimes showing a column the hiding it triggers the issue.
Sometime showing several columns does.

[Bug 846853] [NEW] Documentation error in Use the Launcher to start applications

2011-09-11 Thread riban
Public bug reported:

In the help section, Use the Launcher to start applications it states,
Tap the meta key twice. The Launcher will appear briefly, but will
disappear unless you hover your mouse over the Launcher. I believe this
behaviour may have changed because I find that you need to hold the meta
key to trigger this action. Any brief presses of the meta key open the
Dash.

[Bug 414107] Re: Palimpsest GUI impossible to use on small screen

2010-05-24 Thread riban
The application refuses to maximise if a disk is selected (is okay if
the root or disk controller is selected). I believe the problem is that
the sizers are not appropriately configured and / or no scrollable
window is used for the expandable area for the disk display.

[Bug 276094] Re: gedit uses %100 CPU when opening a file in /var/lib/dpkg/info/

2010-01-22 Thread riban
I just had a very similar problem. gedit was consuming 100% CPU usage
every time I started it. I tried removing the config file with no
improvement. I then found this bug report and investigated the side pane
file browser. This was pointing at a point in the dvb source tree. When
I changed this to point elsewhere, the cpu usage reduced to 10% or less.
I did not try a reboot before finding the work-around described here.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10. Kernel 2.6.31-17-generic. gedit 2.28.0 on a
Samsung NC10 netbook (Intel Atom N270) with 1GB RAM.

[Bug 44082] Re: GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations

Initially this seemed to work but I have had one instance of the applets
re-arranging since installing the PPA version so this is still occurring
(although possibly less frequently).

[Bug 486606] [NEW] Unable to drag and drop (copy) Thunderbird menu item to another menu (from Applications-Internet)

2009-11-22 Thread riban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alacarte

I am able to drag and drop menu entries to other menus but not for
Thunderbird. I am able to drag and drop Thunderbird to a different
position within the Internet menu. I am able to manually create a menu
entry for Thunderbird within another menu.

I created a new menu Applications-Favorites to hold my frequently
used launchers. I copied several launchers in to the new menu but
Thunderbird refused. I found I couldn't copy Thunderbird to any other
menu either. I have not found any other launchers that have this
problem.
