Hello, Since the panels are locked completely with Ubuntu tweak or in gconf editor, the bug comes back with a network manager applet half broken and the display for the virtuals desktops appears blank in the left corner of the bottom panel, just before the trash applet (just one of two milimeters visible and the rest is blank). If i desactivate the lock of panels, that's works with no problem. This problem appears only with compiz and no with metacity. Another information about the bug : I've played with Openarena game in full screen mode (resolution 1024*758) and, at next boot, the date applet has moved out the applet zone, before the separation applet. If i reboot, the bug with icons corrupted comes back and i must replace the applets myself in the right order. In compiz and also in metacity. Hello! I'm sorry for my bad english! I have tested a lot of combinations of reboots on my laptop. With rj45 and ac adaptater connected and without them. When an action changes the size of the notification zone by adding icon applet (for example by opening rythmbox) and that i reboot in desktop mode (with rj45 and ac adpatator), i've no bug. Idem when i reboot in laptop mode (without rj45 and ac adaptator). When a change occured in notification zone (rythmbox launched for example), and that i reboot in laptop mode (without rj45 and ac adaptator), the bug appears each time in laptop mode! No bug when i reboot in desktop mode. When i turn off compiz and i turn on metactiy, i have no bug at all! Are you sure that a compiz bug is invalid? I think that gnome cannot resize the panel or icons applets change with compiz activated. It's strange that i have no bug with metacity if compiz is innocent. A member of ubuntu-fr community have another problem with this bug. He uses compiz normal effect and default theme Ambiance on laptop too. He tried to test with metacity. When he turns off compiz, no difference. When he reactivates compiz, the two panels disapear both. There's a link between compiz and panels for this bug? For my laptop, i've no problem with metacity since this morning and after 42 reboots test. With compiz, 2 reboots and... bug with de laptop on battery. On my desktop, without changes of the appearences of applets icons and without resizing area aplets, I have no bug at all with compiz. If i change appearence of network applet by switch off my router (for example, icon becomes wifi!), no problems at reboot. On my laptop, bug... There's also a link between this bug and laptop mode (energy saver, battery icon applet, etc.) ? The same user had rebooted his laptop with metacity. With compiz, the bug was often (each 20 boots) on the aera applets (right corner high) and also with the desktop icon on the bottom panel at left (icon corrupted). With metacity, no bug appears on the top and on the bottom! He shall stay with this configuration for tests.
