[Bug 1070377] Re: Empathy change to Online Accounts no longer supports SIPE

2012-11-12 Thread SeanK
That is a shame. It means those of us who work at home don't have a
well-integrated SIPE solution with newer versions of Ubuntu. It's hard
to argue for switching to Linux desktops when they don't provide access
to required work IM solutions.

For the record, Empathy supported the pidgin SIPE plugin in the past,
because I personally used it for at least a year before upgrading to
Quantal. So if it is no longer supported, then the functionality was
removed.

[Bug 1070377] [NEW] Empathy change to Online Accounts no longer supports SIPE

2012-10-23 Thread SeanK
Public bug reported:

Many of us use SIPE as way a way to use Microsoft Communicator/Lync in
order to IM with workplaces. Empathy used to allow for SIPE
connections through the pidgin-sipe package but since I switched to
12.10 and online accounts functionality, I can no longer find a way to
do so.

While I can still use SIPE in pidgin, pidgin no longer integrates into
the Unity notification system.

In either case, it means that I no longer get notifications when people
at work IM me. As such, the new version of Ubuntu has greatly
diminished my ability to use Linux at my workplace.

A way to use SIPE (or any previously supported account type not
supported by Online Accounts) in Empathy -- even if it requires a non--
pretty command line/config change -- would be very welcome.

[Bug 637702] Re: Prompted to unlock keyring twice on log in

2010-10-21 Thread SeanK

I've only got a login keyring as well and I get asked to enter my password
three to four times each time the machine starts. I'm using the auto-login
function. It's making me crazy. Please let me know if there's information I
can provide that can help fix this.

[Bug 573160] [NEW] Nautilus browser doesn't automatically refresh

2010-05-01 Thread SeanK
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Since I installed Lucid, Nautilus no longer updates automatically when outside
forces create or change files. I have to hit refresh in order for the changes
to be visible. This also happens if I make a change (such as renaming, adding
or deleting a file) in a second tab in Nautilus. The first tab must be
refreshed in order to see the changes that occurred in the second tab.

[Bug 508632] Re: [FFe] Toggle button for Nautilus location field gone

2010-05-01 Thread SeanK

To Graham: The help must be out of date. The toggle button is gone now.

I too find this annoying, especially when copying and pasting paths
which is the bulk of my usage for switching to the location bar. I
prefer the easy to use buttons for normal usage.

I would suggest that instead of a always use location gconf setting
(or in addition to it) that there also be a replace location toggle
button. That way, it won't clutter up the screen for those that don't
care about it but will be there for those of us that do.

For those needing ways to get the location bar back, I've found two.
Use Ctrl-L or you can also use your mouse to Go-Location. It's one
extra step for the mouse but at least you don't have to remove your hand
from the mouse to do it.

[Bug 371293] Re: Rearranging Items Causes Duplicates

2009-07-19 Thread seanK
I discovered this when I organised my menus into logical categories
instead of the menus been monolithic.

To reproduce try the following;

Create a new menu called Multimedia in System Preferences

Then copy over the following items from within Preferences into the new
Multimedia menu;

Sound
Volume Control
Multimedia Systems Selector

Once these have taken effect the same items should then appear in the
Applications Other menu

This also impacts in the Open With context menu, by duplicating entries
for apps that can be used to open file MIME types.

[Bug 388508] Re: Ctrl+Tab to change tab in Nautilus

This would be really useful feature.

Additionally, although maybe not exactly a papercut as it is more a
wish, for the tabs to be detachable/tearable as in Gedit.

Only seems to be right hand aligned applets on top bottom panels, even

[Bug 371293] [NEW] Rearranging Items Causes Duplicates

2009-05-03 Thread seanK
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alacarte

Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty

Whilst rearranging the menu for a more logical organisation of Sytem -
Preferences, I've noticed that it has caused duplicates of the
rearranged items in the Application - Other category.

As an observation, the whole editing process in Alacarte does feel kind
of sluggish and desperately requires improving from a usability
perspective.

[Bug 204536] Re: sound volume always resets to 100% after reboot

2008-04-18 Thread SeanK

I just installed Mythbuntu Hardy on a frontend machine and am having the same
problem. Every time I reboot, PCM and Master reset themselves to the 2/3 level
marks which makes the sound almost inaudible. Extremely annoying to me since I
only turn on this computer when I'm going to watch television.

Installed the lastest Mythbuntu (labelled Mythbuntu 8.04 Beta) and have
all upgrades/dist-upgrades installed.

Thanks
