After each fresh install I have to adjust manually the cdroms entry to match my hardware. The current drive is an IDE MultiNorm Burner from LG, I didn't check that with SATA drives as I don't own one atm. What further information do you need? It happens more often, if I leave my iPod plugged and shutdown ubuntu. remove any power supply. It seems to happen randomly, somtimes it works just fine sometimes it does not. Since I updated 2.22.1 (which is 5minutes ago) I did not get this error again, but I only rebooted once since then, and it usually happens only on boot/xserver restart as far as I can say.
