We're already almost at Natty and I'm still having this problem. I have
turned off the login sound on the login screen and my system sound
settings are set to No Sounds and I still get the drums. It seems very
user-unfriendly to provide an option to uncheck the login sound and then
proceed to ignore the option.

[Bug 519583] Re: can't add, move, unlock applets no clock

Would this be the reason that I'm unable to change my chat status to
online?  I set up my account and was online during that session, but
now that I have logged out and back in again, I can't change my status
to any of the other options.
