Their Network Manager is configured to automatically handle grps/umts connections properly, including making sure the applications also are in online mode. As proprietary drivers are proprietary, the only real hope is to either contact ATI directly (oh, they do fix display adapter and driver related bugs, I have corresponded with them previously and they did excellent job) or to find the problem from the gnome-screensaver instead. It might be that still as well so I am setting this to there. Quite honestly though, isn't there any IBM/Lenovo model with better display adapter? The Intel's newest are a lot more sturdy, and they work 99,99% the time perfectly without having to play around with any proprietary drivers... Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libnautilus-burn-dev Reading http://www.lesswatts.org/tips/disks.php it is really worth it to disable hal cdrom polling as it prevents the power saving (important for laptops) from working properly. However when you do this hal-disable-polling --device /dev/scd0 it leads into the cd/dvd image burning application to fail. It will keep asking for the user to insert a disc for writing even when one is already inserted. I think that when I unplug my laptop from AC power the polling should be automatically disabled. Furthermore the cd burning application should be more intelligent (enable the polling if it was disabled and the user wants to burn a disc, and disable it again afterwards perhaps). The documents were made using Windows version of OpenOffice, 2.2.1 I guess. I downloaded them from elsewhere and they came up like that. After editing them with the development version that is included in Gutsy and saving them they have looked like they should (have proper page background in the thumbnail).
