[Bug 740180] [NEW] Dragging of windows does not work with trackpad (natty alpha3)

2011-03-22 Thread zvaral
Public bug reported:

Dragging of windows with trackpad (touchpad on mac) does not work properly
under the development version of natty (11.04 alpha3). Dragging can be issued
normally (which worked well with Ubuntu 10.10) by clicking twice on the window
border holding the second click and move the window.
This action can be performed very rarely (once from 10) and usually only after
maximizing the window with triple click and minimizing again.

[Bug 598391] [NEW] evince does not open eps files generated by gnuplot

2010-06-25 Thread zvaral
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I am testing maverick.

Evince does not show eps files generated by gnuplot. It starts to open
the file and infinitely showing the Loading... text instead of the
real image. Ghostview (gv) immediately opens it. Other eps images may be
opened by evince, I tested only an eps file generated by xfig. That was
OK.

For testing purposes, I attach an eps figure which I have not managed to
open with evince.

[Bug 529882] Re: user switch crashes with process termination (lucid alpha)

2010-04-12 Thread zvaral
The problem step by step:

1. After booting up I can login and start up some applications (firefox, xterm,
etc.)
2. I Change the user by clicking the switch off button (up-right corner on the
upper panel) and select an other name
3. I find my self on a gdm login window where the selected user's password has
to be typed
4. After typing the password gnome-session starts and I can use this user's
desktop.
5. After launching some applications (firefox, image viewer, etc.) I choose log
out from this user which should result in a return of the previous user (or to
the locked screen) but a blank screen appears. With the latest updates I do not
get any text massage or similar just a black screen with the pointer I can move
around but I can not do anything.
6. Trying to switch to a virtual console (Ctrl+Alt+F1, F2, etc.) the pointer
disappear but the screen is still black without any possibility to type login
information. (Of course, I can type the authentication blindly and run for
example, sudo reboot, which will reboot the machine showing it works properly
but the screen is not OK.) Switching back to X (Alt+F7) the small arrow shape
of the pointer can be seen again and able to move it but the screen is still
totally black.
7. This is the reason I connected the machine remotely. Network connection
works but the screen can not be seen. When I logged in from an other computer
and killed gdm it restarted properly and the gdm login screen appeared again.

I try to test this issue further and find relating information or any
error and I will report them later.

[Bug 529882] Re: user switch crashes with process termination (lucid alpha)

2010-04-11 Thread zvaral
The information could be collected using remote login to the crashed
machine.

The requested logs and other outputs are attached in the tar gzipped
file.

I must note that I do not experience this bug when I switch the user and
switch back in every case but when firefox is running this bug is
usually occurring.

The crashed computer could be repaired easily by killing gdm remotely.

[Bug 529882] Re: user switch crashes with process termination (lucid alpha)

2010-04-02 Thread zvaral
Unfortunately, this issue is still exist. I recollected some information
logging in remotely to the computer which leaved a black screen (without
any additional text). Previous attachments relate to this action.

What happened: I switched user successfully used the computer and logged
out after. At this stage, I obtained a black screen without any
possibility to return to the previous user.

[Bug 512028] Re: Nautilus handles attempted copying of 4 GiB file to vfat poorly

2010-03-11 Thread zvaral
This issue is also presented in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 alpha 3. Nautilus
version 1:2.29.91-0ubuntu2.
This problem can be really embarrassing for people without relevant technical
skills!

I think investigating a condition before copying would be essential.
Only something similar:

if FileSize  4294967296  FileSystem == vfat {

   printf(%s\n,WARNING_AND_ERROR_MESSAGE);

   return 1

}

[Bug 526379] Re: GDM login fails with regular gnome-session (lucid, i386)

2010-03-04 Thread zvaral
This issue was resolved by the yesterday updates. Today I launched the
computer and I could login to normal gnome-session without any problem.

The related update packages could be
gdm_2.96.6-0ubuntu4_i386.deb
gnome-session_2.29.6-0ubuntu4_all.deb
gnome-session-bin_2.29.6-0ubuntu4_all.deb
gtk2-engines-pixbuf_2.19.6-1ubuntu3_i386.deb

No X-related packages were received yesterday, so, very likely the issue
was within any of the above packages.

I can not see the similarities but probably someone others may confirm

As I can see now, only gdm related warnings or errors are presented in
/var/log/syslog such as

id found

For the sake of simplicity I attached the whole syslog file too.
Probably a more experienced bug hunter will see something more specific
too.

But turning back to the earlier mentioned /var/log/gdm/:0-greeter.log
file, I checked and the /var/log/gdm/.config folder is empty. Why does
gdm look for a saved session file here?

[Bug 526379] [NEW] GDM login fails with regular gnome-session (lucid, i386)

2010-02-23 Thread zvaral
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

After installing lucid alpha2 and updating the packages (Feb 22, 2010)
regular gnome-session can not be obtained from gdm. After clicking the
login name and typing the password, gdm returns to the original login
screen without starting the default gnome-session. Failsafe gnome-
session however will work if I select this option from the select
session pop-up menu.

[Bug 510001] Re: color depth degradation after resume (ati mobility radeon)

2010-01-20 Thread zvaral
I use the Xorg driver obtained from the default install of the 10.04 alpha2
disk which is radeon.
I attached the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file as well as the output of the lspci
-vvnn command (lspci_out.txt).
