Since the system was unuseable reinstalled with the 08/24/12 daily build
of 12.10.  Have not seen this problem on this level.

thank you for your bug report, do you still get the issue? could you run those 
command?
- dpkg -l | grep nautilus
- which nautilus
- find /usr/local -name *nautilus*

then copy the logs to the bug
