from powertop on a fully updated gutsy system as of now:
Top causes for wakeups:

  15.3% ( 15.0)       firefox-bin : futex_wait (hrtimer_wakeup) 
  12.2% ( 12.0)     mixer_applet2 : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) 
 
This app wakes up too often in order to check, I don't know what.  Hopefully 
there is some type of event callback it can use instead.
