[Bug 146883] Re: application menu is empty

2008-04-09 Thread Vashu
I can confirm this bug and the solution posted above. In my case I had to do:
cp /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu.orig.dpkg-new
~/.config/menus/applications.menu
And I used to have ubuntustudio Gutsy and removed it just before upgrading in
order do a normal upgrade of ubuntu-desktop.

Hello,
after upgraded my system and removed all my old ubuntustudio packages ,
I also created a user. Now it works.

Thank you for your bug. Does it happen with a new user? Looks like some
.config local modifications are creating the issue. Why do you think
 that's a gnome-menus bug?

closing, that doesn't look a gnome-menus bug and works now, either your
menu editor wrote broken datas, the menu got corrupted or ubuntustudio
does weird menu changes.

Marking this as confirmed as this has also happened to me after the
latest batch of updates. I see the same error in .xsession-errors as is
listed above when I try to fire up alacarte.

[Bug 146883] Re: application menu is empty

2007-09-30 Thread Graham Binns
A work-around for me was to copy /usr/share/ubuntustudio-
menu/applications.menu into my .config/menus directory. Obviously this
won't work for non Ubuntustudio users, but copying
/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu (attached) to ~/.configs/menus/ will do
the same job for standard Ubuntu.
