2007-10-15 Thread Sebastien Bacher
raydar, you are commenting on a bug which has nothing to do with your
issue that's creating confusion and extra work, could you open new bugs
if you have an issue rather than commenting on some other one?

2007-10-13 Thread raydar
My xorg.conf Depth entries all read 24, but an update midday Saturday
October 13 broke something relating to this greeter application
seeming to be crashing, for me and one other user so far (more detail in
the newest entries at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=190310 ).

You can log-in to a vt and start Xorg using startx', maybe
/var/log/messages /var/log/syslog /var/log/Xorg.0.log have useful
informations?

WHat version of Ubuntu do you use?

2007-10-03 Thread Ergosys
Nothing is written to ~/.xsession-errors from /etc/init.d/gdm start to the
display of the dialog.
Is there another log that might have some useful information?

[Bug 148353] Re: gdmgreeter crashes when screen depth is 8 bpp

2007-10-03 Thread Ergosys
I am using 7.10, with all recent updates.

I need further information on how to get a backtrace on this program, since it
seems to be started by gdm.
How do I start X without gdm, for example? Will gdmgreeter run without gdm?

It's not clear to me that gdmgreeter is crashing, or just terminating.

I'll see if there's anything in .xsession-errors, and post that shortly.
