Personally I do not see the console output on the computer I'm using right now, but I'm quite sure I've seen it before. I get the same thing. After logging out the system drops into a console for a split second. There doesn't seem to be any log output that would be of value either. That or I'm not checking in the right places.. I'm on a HP Pavilion dv4170ca Laptop. Hello, yes I still experience this behavior. Don't you? When I logout, the screen goes black, then it prints couple lines of text, like 5-6, where it says something like; * Starting... It goes too fast for me to be able to read it. Like, I run 1280x1024 in graphics mode X, then when I click logout, it puts computer into 640x480 in console mode, prints 5 lines of text, then back to graphics mode. If you press Ctrl+Shift+Backspace then you will see and feel the same as me. thank you for taking the time to file a report You said you are kicked back to console could you elaborate. The normal behavior or log out is Remove the normal X display and and make the screen black for a few seconds then bring up the login screen. This sounds like what you are getting.
