[Bug 216702] Re: totem sends surround sound to wrong channels
I've just been playing around on alpha 6 live cd, unfortunately, however, I can't even test this since I havn't been able to configure pulseaudio for surround sound without restarting (which would then remove all settings of course) Another bug (#260675) makes installing it impractical at the moment. However, some more testing on hardy has revealed that it's probably more to do with pulseaudio, or further down the chain - I'm not sure why I didn't notice that before. pavucontrol also controls the wrong channels, while the volume control from volume- control-applet controls the right ones... I guess this means it really needs to be tested further and possibly a bug filed against the appropriate package. On a side note, it should probably be easier to setup / enable surround sound in pulseaudio than having to edit config files... :( My current workaround is to just plug the rear speakers plug into the center / LFE socket and vice versa, which is fine for me as long as I don't boot into vista too often (which does recognise all the channels correctly) -- totem sends surround sound to wrong channels https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 216702] Re: totem sends surround sound to wrong channels
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Intrepid Ibex. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help. -- totem sends surround sound to wrong channels https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 216702] Re: totem sends surround sound to wrong channels
Thanks for your report, Does the same happens with another applications like rhythmbox? I don't have that kind of speakers so can't test here. ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: New = Incomplete -- totem sends surround sound to wrong channels https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 216702] Re: totem sends surround sound to wrong channels
I'll see if I can try some other applications, but what you suggested there wouldn't show anything, since any 2 channel sound is merely output to all speakers. Even if i could find a 6-channel sound to test it on, most of these sort of applications, from poking around somewhat, will only output as if 2 speakers existed anyway (eg mplayer's default action is to downmix 5.1 channel sound to 2 channels, iirc) -- totem sends surround sound to wrong channels https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
