I've integrated my replacement for DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH into the workaround posted in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux- restricted-modules-2.6.24/+bug/197209 Yes, separating it would be better. It's just broken. /etc/default/acpi-support, if it has any effect at all, can't have all the effects it purports to. For example, DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH is activated by one of the /etc/acpi/resume.d scripts. Really, I appreciate all the work that's done gratis to make Ubuntu great, but I think this is a serious problem. It's bad enough to break backward compatibility without providing a transition path, but to leave the old stuff lying around and yet non-operational seems irresponsible. I take my second comment back; /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/* are not ignored. However, 1.
