Actually I found that printing lemon_jelly.pdf from http://live.gnome.org/Evince/Testing worked fine with Evince. I've just started experiencing this same problem in Karmic (32-bit), with Evince 2.28.1. PDFs with no images print ok, and PDFs with or without images print ok from Okular.
