Comment from the developer: This was fixed ages ago. Enter an album artist for the CD and the tracks are extracted to a single folder with that name, rather than separate folders for each artist. Just to point out: if you left Artist empty, then Rhythmbox creates a folder for every artist on the CD. That means that if the disc match fails, the case explained by the op could happen There is no clear indication that Artist is used as foder name if filled, so the solution is not obvious. I use album artist and plugin rhythmbox-fileorganizer. https://launchpad.net/rb-fileorganizer With multi artist albums I use various as the album artist and when organised files can be set to use album artist if existing and then artist as a fallback. I haven't updated it in a while but if documented a bit more it would be okay. This is also an issue when the tracks of a compilation album are transferred to an iPod (5th generation Nano).
