Paul, I'm sorry to hear you are still affected. What version of nautilus do you have? Do you have jaunty-updates enabled? Hi Rolf, I have the same version of Nautilus as you, as I stated in my previous post ;) I have all repos activated, including proposed and backports. I have the eject button in places view but I'm using tree. The effect is as of the first post of this thread - mount point remains with a duplicate when media is remounted. -- unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Intrepid Ibex. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This problem does not occur unless nautilus is pointed right to the root of the temporarily mounted device. [Bug 235495] Re: unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree
Hi, I am also experiencing this bug. Some further experimentation reveals that the places menu still shows the disk after unmounting (but not unplugging) - when unplugged the disk is removed from the places menu. So probably this is only a nautilus issue. Also very occasionally the correct behaviour is observed (disk removed from tree after being unmounted). I didn't experience this problem with Gutsy - if that helps. [Bug 235495] Re: unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree
1. Open Nautilus 2. Insert CF card, watch it show up in the window portion labeled Tree 3. Right-Click on the CF card in Tree, choose Unmount volume 4. Observe that the entry for the CF card is still shown in Tree, clicking on it results in http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14765662/nautilus-removables.png This does not have to be a Compact Flash card, I believe, but occurs with other mountpoints, as well IIRC. For every time you reiterate steps 2+3, one more occurence of the CF mount is added (also visible in http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14765662 /nautilus-removables.png) ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 235495] Re: unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree
In my case, it looks like I was jumping the gun. My apologies. It's still true that my iPod icon does not change when the iPod is unmounted. However, the mounting and unmounting of other devices (camera, USB) is working correctly. So, I'm not really getting what is described here. None of my device occurrences multiply, and my iPod alone just stays the same in the nautilus tree. -- unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 235495] Re: unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree
I am having the same problem with the unmount status not being reflected in Nautilus. However, it may not be exactly the same as the one reported. After an upgrade to Hardy, when I unmount my iPod, for example, its icon remains exactly the same. A right click will show the option to mount it. But a click of the left mouse button on the icon will automatically mount the iPod, although it will not give any indication that it has, which I cannot see as a feature. Also, unlike Rolf's report, if I open a new nautilus window with Ctrl+n, it will STILL show the already unmounted device. -- unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 235495] Re: unmounted volumes still show in nautilus tree
the gnome-panel places menu also lists the CF256 removable device which is a Compact Flash 256MB (surprise, surprise) either in the CF slot on my Thinkpad or in a USB card reader (depending on circumstances). I've seen this with my Digicam as well and all kinds of other removable devices, including sshfs mounts, etc. I don't think the type of media has much relevance here. I am not surprised it is listed in Places since all accessible drives are listed there AFAIK. gvfs-bin package was up until now not installed.
