You have been subscribed to a public bug: A very annoying brightness bug in 8.10 beta release. The following are the symptoms:
1. When I press Fn+Home/End to increase/decrease brightness, the brightness applet does not appear for atlease 15-20 secs 2. After changing the brightness, the screen progressively goes darker 3. Pressing the Fn+Home key to adjust brightness is very intermittent, sometime it works, sometime it does not work What I expect to happen: a) Brightness to be adjusted automatically to preset brightness when laptop does not have AC power b) Fn+Home/End to adjust brightness to function in a stable fashion. It worked well in 8.04 c) brightness chaging applet to be responsive d) in 8.04, i hardly used these function keys. With 8.10 this is so annoying that I am unable to work with no power cord uname -a Linux sun-laptop 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:42:44 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux s...@sun-laptop:~$ cat /etc/issue Ubuntu 8.10 \n \l I am using IBM X40 lsb_release -rd Description: 8.10 Release: 8.10 ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Brightness issue with Ibex 8.10 on IBM X40 Laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290545 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
