sorry for late reply.
After getting the latest updates today, the problem is fixed for me. The 
workarround described above (adding the line '/etc/init.d/cups.dpkg-new start' 
into the file /etc/rc.local) will not work any more and should imho be revoked 
if already implemented.

Same for me.
Reason seems to be, that starting cups is now done via 
/etc/init.d/cups.dpkg-new and not cupsys any more. There is an brocken symlink 
called cups pointing to cupsys!
Adding /etc/init.d/cupsys.dpkg-new start to /etc/init.d/rc.local solves the 
problem though may be not the recommended way.
