Machine is Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 CPU, 2
GB RAM, video card is Nvidia chipset (I forget what card it is) 4 SATA
II drives, all WD. No wifi or wireless stuff used, wired FiOS internet.
No other cards in machine. Note drives are not currently used as RAID
array just an OS drive and three data drives.

Occurs with 8.04 and 8.1 versions. Problem only occurs on 160 GB OS
drive, does not occur on data drives. Nautilus (opened in terminal or
with alt-F2) and file browser from the toolbar (Places) both freeze if I
try to access the root, ron (my username) or home folders. If any of
those folders are opened the browser greys out then must be force quit.
System monitor shows one of the cores goes to 100% usage and the process
related to that is Xorg. In terminal nautilus --check shows no errors.
Under Hardy 8.04 the freeze could be force quit but as soon as it quit
the browser would pop back up and refreeze, restarting machine stopped
the cycle but you had to force quit before the machine would restart
(note under Hardy the cores would switch the 100% usage level when the
browser popped back up after force quit). Upgraded to 8.1 and the
freezes still occur but force quit makes it stay quit. Fresh installs
still have the problem.

New to linux from XP so I have no idea how to even start better
debugging reporting. If you have someone that can walk me through
tracing the problem on irc feel free to email me and we can setup a
time. I do not know if this is a potential security issue.
