[Bug 299121] Re: Nautilus expands a subdirectory when shift-clicking on a file

2008-11-17 Thread Stephen Irons
Oh, Ubuntu Intrepid recently updated, Nautilus 2.24.1

A bit more clicking around revealed that it depends on the TIME between
pressing shift and clicking.

Sometimes, when you press the shift key, the little triangular expander
on the first subdirectory turns black for a short while, between a tiny
fraction of a second up to about half a second.

If you click soon after pressing shift, while the expander triangle is
still black, then the subdirectory expands. If you hold the shift key
down for long enough, it turns white again, and the shift-click operates
correctly.

And even more clicking around shows that the little triangular expander
stays black as long as the mouse is still. As soon as the mouse moves,
the little triangular expander turns white again when you move the
mouse. To see this:

1. click on a file
2. move the mouse to a different file -- lift it off the surface so that it
cannot move
3. press and hold shift

-- the little triangular expander on the first subdirectory turns black
-- I do not know what it should do

4a. without moving the mouse, click the mouse button

-- the first subdirectory expands -- it should not happen: Nautilus
should select the range of files.

Repeat steps 1--3, then

4b. move the mouse slightly

-- the little tirangular expander turns white

5. click on a file while shift has been held down the whole time

-- the range is selected.

2008-11-17 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
confirming, will look upstream, however i think it's different than the
bug 295408, indeed both triggers the expand event but the steps to
reproduce the behaviors are differents, thanks Stephen.
