I wanted to add: 'deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com intrepid main restricted universe multiverse' to '/etc/apt/sources.list'. At first '/home/$USER# gedit /etc/apt/sources.list' and '~$ sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list' would not work.
