[Bug 344267] Re: users administration tool deletes all users

2010-01-12 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
Too bad, that's generally the problem with such major bugs - they happen
only once, else we would have fixed that for a long time. As I said, I
can't happen anymore in Lucid, at least not with such harsh
consequences. For the rest (group memberships), I let you follow
progress on bug 240437 if you want (it has the very same symptoms but is
reproducible). I have good hope that fixing that one will fix yours too.

Thanks for your interest too! I have to close this report because we
won't be able to get enough information (auth.log is nice for a start,
though, but not enough).

[Bug 344267] Re: users administration tool deletes all users

2010-01-11 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
Thanks for your report. Are you able to reproduce this problem? I'd
really like to fix that if we can get enough information.

At least I'm sure that in Lucid users won't be affected, and groups
won't be removed. Only group membership will be affected, which is still
a problem though.

Actually, it happened only once. I had to recover the passwords files
from other machines, and currently the admin user app does not show
any user.

With my first report I attached the /var/log/auth.log

Thanks for your interest.

Status in “gnome-system-tools” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

 Using: ubuntu 8.04
 Package: gnome-system-tools (Version: 2.22.0)
Creating a new account with the users administration tool
(System-Administration-Users and Groups), the system automatically deletes
all the current user accounts and groups.
I attach the /var/log/auth.log file where you can see that after the
execution of 'org.freedesktop.systemtoolsbackends.set' the usedel commands
started. All the users (and groups) of the system were deleted, except the
new one and the one you use for the creation.
