2010-10-26 Thread Michael Brooks
I thin its funny that wanting Ubuntu to not rape the environment and my
battery is a wish list item. Clearly there is a problem with Canonical's
view of their impact.

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: gnome

When the machine is left alone then the screen will display black, however
the backlight will remain lit for a considerable amount of time there after.
An easy way to check is by putting the machine in a totally dark room, the
screen should not be glowing. This is a bug because its not Green. Global
warming is a very serious threat and I wish Canonical would do more to help.

 Peace

2010-06-22 Thread Michael Brooks
I fail to see the point of a screen saver that is attempting to display a
perfectly black, but instead displays a grey screen which is waisting the
life, using Co2, eating up my battery and burning out my display.

Thank you for taking the time to make ubuntu better.
In Preferences Power Manager you can select the display time, for
instance on my jaunty system I set mine to the lowest - 11mins and after
that time it shuts off power to the monitor completely.
The solution to this issue I believe is to wishlist that the default
setting be less than 40mins which it currently is, so will not show a black
screen for a long period of time.
 Cheers
