I'm getting exactly the same behaviour; the tray opens about 3 min after finalizing starts, then completes with success message about 2 min later, but the disk is completely unusable. Same thing happens when burning a dvd, except can slow dvd burn speed down to x8 and so far has worked ok. I'm using Karmic and Ext4, did not see this problem with same hardware using Jaunty and Ext3. Can dual boot using Vista with no problems in burning a cd or dvd. Thanks for your report, could you run brasero from the command line as: brasero --brasero-media-debug brasero-debug.txt perform the operation to reproduce the bug and attach the resulting file to the report?.
