My apologies... My new HP printer will not print anything at all if the ink cartridge is below a certain point, so my pages were coming out blank, instead of spotty or greying out. Anyhow, I'm not used to it, and I thought Acrobat was to blame. Not so. So, now it's happening in Adobe Acrobat 9.1.3 on Ubuntu as well... only worse, I think. Evince at least was print frames and bars; I'm getting blank sheets of paper from Acrobat as of today, or at least some time this week. As I recall there was a poppler update just a day or two ago. I don't know if this is meaningful or not, but the nautilus image preview of the PDF in question has no text visible either. That may or may not be a clue. I should mention that I am on Ubuntu 9.04, fully updated. Evince 2.26.1-0ubuntu1. Acroread 9.1.2-3Jaunty1.
