Gecko/20090408 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Sunbird/0.9

After a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04, installed Sunbird via Add/Remote
Programs. Then attempted to open calendar file that was exported from a Vista
Business 32x native install. After opening calendar file the calendar became
corrupt and prevented me from adding new calendars.

Attempted Sunbird uninstall using Add/Remove Applications to remove Sunbird but
the
following dialog box text appears:

"Cannot remove 'sunbird' One or more applications depend on sunbird. To remove
sunbird and the dependent applications, use the Synaptic package manager."

Restarted the OS, then tried Add/Remove Programs again and got the same
prompt.

Performed library dependency check for sunbird via ldd (output below):

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
-> About Ubuntu.

sudo lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
packagename' or by checking in Synaptic.

sudo apt-cache policy sunbird
sunbird:
  Installed: 0.9+nobinonly-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 0.9+nobinonly-0ubuntu2
  Version table:

3) What you expected to happen

I expected the program to uninstall without error prompt.

4) What happened instead

The following dialog box text appears:

"Cannot remove 'sunbird' One or more applications depend on sunbird. To remove
